ELO’s final shows cancelled due to Jeff Lynne’s health

The final Electric Light Orchestra shows were cancelled due to the health of the band's leader, multi-instrumentalist and singer Jeff Lynne (77). The Manchester show was already cancelled last July 10 and now the band announced they won't be able to perform next July 13 at London's Hyde Park. The official statement about ELO's cancellation and Lynne's health "Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to report that he will not be able to perform at tomorrow's BST Hyde Park show. Jeff has been battling a systemic infection and is currently in the care of a team of doctors who have advised him that performing is simply not possible at this time nor will he be able to reschedule." "The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff's mind today. While he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time. Please go to bst-hydepark.com for all information regarding refunds," the statement said. This year Jeff Lynne played only three shows, which happened in Birmingham, England (July 5 and 6) and in Manchester, England (July 9). Electric Light Orchestra is one of the most successful bands of all time, with an estimated amount of more than 50 million records sold worldwide. Led by the band’s singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Lynne, they were active until 1986, returning from 2000 to 2001 and from 2014 until now. Besides being ELO's leader, Jeff Lynne also worked extensively as a record producer, working many times with the late Beatle George Harrison, who was a great friend. They both were members of the supergroup Traveling Wilburys, which also had Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. Lynne was born in Birmingham, England back in 1947 and started his career in 1963. He recently revealed that although these were ELO's final shows, the band would continue to record. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1OV9VyMTFs&list=RDT1OV9VyMTFs&start_radio=1&pp=ygUPamVmZiBseW5uZSAyMDI1oAcBThe post ELO’s final shows cancelled due to Jeff Lynne’s health appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.
