Traffic Comes To A Halt At Yellowstone National Park To Make Way For Special “Pedestrians”
Is there anything more frustrating than getting caught in traffic? This always seems to happen during the worst times, like when you’re late to work or are trying to enjoy your vacation. A group of visitors to Yellowstone National Park, however, were lucky enough to experience a very rare kind of traffic jam. Sure, they were still forced to be at a standstill. But the reason why proved to be quite heartwarming.
Like other national parks, Yellowstone is home to a number of majestic animals. That includes the elk. Members of the deer family, these animals are absolutely precious. So, when a whole family of them started to casually make their way across the road, everyone made sure to give them the space they needed to safely make it to the other side. Witness this sweet moment in the video below!

“The last [elk] looking back to say thank you,” a commenter points out. Others add, “A nice reminder that enjoying the open road isn’t just about us” and “It’s like the big ones were making sure the coast was clear for the little ones to cross.”
Visitors to Yellowstone National Park Experience an Unexpected Traffic Jam for the Best Reason
It’s truly no wonder the person who shared this video says, “I can’t believe I witnessed this.” Yellowstone National Park is home to a number of animals, but elk are the most abundant mammals you’ll find here. More specifically, there are usually around 10,000 to 20,000 of them in the summer. How cool is that!?

As is the case with any wild animal, it’s important to take precautions when near an elk. For example, it’s said that the park requires guests to keep a distance of at least 25 yards. While these creatures are adorable, they can become aggressive, especially during certain times of year like mating season. Still, as this video show, there are plenty of ways to respectfully admire our animal friends from afar!
