Artist Travels An Hour And A Half To Deliver A Painting In Person For The Sweetest Reason

TikTok user BelxBxby<3 recently lost her furbaby, whom she called Piggy. When Piglet passed away, her mom was, understandably, heartbroken. To preserve the memories, she contracted with Black Paw Supply Company and painter Meaghan Rey. When Meaghan finished the portrait, she did not trust the precious painting to the mail and opted to deliver it in person. @paint_and_pixels I don’t just make portraits because I love dogs or because I’m good at it…I have always done it because I love it. Because it’s important. My life has been dark and full of grief and pain. I had a hard time finding people to help me through it the way I needed – art is what got me out of my darkest days. And because of that I have always wanted to be a light for others going through hard times because… I know what it’s like – I choose to do this work because it is immediately impactful and beneficial to someone’s life. When life tries and tries to make my heart hard, I make a conscious choice to make it softer. When the world feels cold I make a conscious choice to make it warmer. And it is this way I think we truly LIVE. it was so great to meet you and thanks so much for your support @BelxBxby<3 #memorial #memorialportrait #graphiteartist #oilartist #oilpainting #fypppppppp ♬ Lullaby for Erik – Evgeny Grinko BelxBxby<3’s grandfather was in hospice care before Piggy passed. Meaghan was contracted to do a graphite portrait of her grandfather. BelxBxby<3 loved it so much that she immediately contracted a second one to give to her grandmother. Meaghan hand-delivered the portraits on the same day. Image from TikTok. Meaghan discusses why she does portraits of deceased people and pets in the caption of the video above. She does this work because it is important. Painting a family member or furbaby helps the grieving family keep their memories alive. Meahgan credits art with having helped her work through her darkest days. Since then, she has tried to be a light for others. “When life tries and tries to make my heart hard, I make a conscious choice to make it softer. When the world feels cold I make a conscious choice to make it warmer.” @babygurll0315 Words cannot describe how complete I feel knowing she’s finished and right next to me. This incredible artist poured her heart into this painting and I’m so in love. @paint_and_pixels @Black Paw Supply Co. I miss you so much piggy. #painting #hozier #imissyou #piggy #iloveyou #artwork #oilpainting #onthisday #fyp ♬ Northern Attitude – Noah Kahan & Hozier Meaghan decided to deliver the oil painting of Piglet and the graphite sketches in person. Even though the drive was three hours round-trip, it was worth it to see the client’s face. She received a hearty hug for the delivery. Meaghan works in a variety of mediums. She has some pieces posted on her website. You might get sticker shock if you have never purchased a hand-painted piece. You can watch some of her videos and follow her on TikTok and Instagram. The amount of time and talent that she expends on each painting is tremendous, which justifies the cost. She also creates digital artwork that is more affordable. Please share.
