Farmer Pairs Two Orphans As Unlikely Companions And The Result Is Too Precious
Dealing with orphaned animals on a homestead can be touchy. In this case, the homesteader, Kate Woodard, found herself with a pig and a goat orphan. With no other ideas flowing, she placed them together in the hopes that they wouldn’t feel so alone. They’re siblings now, and you won’t convince them they aren’t.

After trying her experiment, Kate was overjoyed to find the little pig and goat orphans snuggling together. We’re not sure how either animal became an orphan. The piglet has been bottle-fed. The little goat appears a bit older.

Together, the two little animals are taking comfort in one another. It creates an adorable scene. Animals are more accepting than many humans when it comes to adopting orphans. Canada Geese readily accept any gosling roughly the same age as their current brood. Horses are a bit trickier, but a nursing mare will often accept an orphaned foal.
More Unlikely Animal Pairs
Throughout the animal kingdom, there are tales of a dog raising a litter of kittens or vice versa. Sometimes a stray chicken ends up in a duck family. Santi the dog is godfather to all the chicks on his homestead farm.

Kate and her husband, Granger, are not new to fostering orphaned animals. In June, they found themselves bottle-feeding an orphaned fawn. The couple has settled into homesteading and is busy collecting critters. They have numerous dogs, some goats, the little piglet, chickens, and bunnies. They are raising two children, Esme and Beck, and teaching them to love animals.
As the two little orphans settle in together, Kate and Granger will continue collecting more strays. If they have good fortune like they did with the goat and pig orphans, they will have many happy animals.
