BREAKING: President Trump Deploys Warships Near Venezuela to Combat Cartels

It looks like the “war on drugs” is now taking on a very literal meaning… In a bold move, President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have deployed three Navy guided-missile destroyers off the coast of Venezuela in order to combat the drug cartels. Here’s what we know: BREAKING: President Trump and SecDef Pete Hegseth just sent out 3 United States Navy destroyers, joined by an attack submarine, near Venezuela to crack down on the cartels. The USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham and the USS Sampson are the worships being deployed, Reuters reports. The mission here will be to track, surveil, and disrupt the cartels. If necessary, these warships are equipped for carrying out targeted strikes. They will be arriving near Venezuela within 36 hours. Reuters has more: Three U.S. Aegis guided-missile destroyers will arrive off the coast of Venezuela in the next 36 hours as part of an effort to address threats from Latin American drug cartels, two sources briefed on the matter said on Monday. President Donald Trump has wanted to use the military to go after Latin American drug gangs that have been designated as global terrorist organizations. The sources said the ships are the USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham and the USS Sampson. A separate U.S. official told Reuters that in total, about 4,000 sailors and Marines are expected to be committed to the Trump administration’s efforts in the southern Caribbean region. That U.S. official, who was speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the additional commitment of military assets in the broader region would include several P-8 spy planes, warships and at least one attack submarine. Finally, we have a president and Defense Department taking real action to stop the evil drug trade, which continually threatens our nation’s security. It’s honestly crazy how long that has taken. Keep in mind that President Trump has also put out a warrant for the arrest of Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro for his role in drug trafficking. Rep. Gimenez noted: #SOSVenezuela Dictator Nicolas Maduro is most pervasive drug trafficker in our hemisphere. President Trump is taking SERIOUS STEPS to stop the flood of drugs into our country. The Maduro regime must be annihilated. pic.twitter.com/spK74Gdlow — Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez (@RepCarlos) August 19, 2025   Stay tuned. Things are getting very interesting…
