When you run a website called WLT Report, you might expect that on a large, large majority of issues we are completely in-line with President Trump. By the way, you do know WLT stands for “We Love Trump” and stems from my prior site called WeLoveTrump.com, right? Introducing…WLT Report! [From Noah] So while we aim to be critical thinkers and not just sycophants, critical thinking leads us to supporting and agreeing with President Trump's actions in most situations and our reporting reflects that. And I have learned that even when things might look questionable on the surface, usually there's a very good reason for why President Trump is doing what he's doing the more you look into it. It's easy to armchair quarterback and no one is above tough questions, but I've also learned long ago that President Trump is privy to VAST amounts more of information that we have on the outside looking in, and I've come to trust that he's going to make the best decision he can based on all of that information -- some of which I may not have. That all said, this is one of those topics that on the surface looks, well....just plain wrong. Because yesterday President Trump announced he is bringing in 600,000 Chinese students into the US. How does this Make America Great exactly? It seems like it does two things, neither of which are good.  First, it takes up 600,000 seats at colleges and universities that will NOT go to American students.  That's just math and reality.  How is that good? Your kid who might have a 4.0 GPA and was born here and wants to go to school for engineering is suddenly facing 600,000 Chinese students who want his seat?  Really? Second, it seems to only enrich the Ivy League institutions that have made very clear they hate America. These elite hellhole institutions are no different than any other business -- they need customers to stay in business and President Trump just gifted them 600,000 new customers.  Why? I guess there's also a third item...there's no guarantee this group isn't loaded with Chinese Spies.  In fact, it's almost guaranteed that some number of Chinese Spies are coming into the US with this program, perhaps a number much larger than you might expect. So while I trust President Trump and give him wide benefit of the doubt, this one is hard to understand. Laura Ingraham also found it perplexing and she pushed Howard Lutnick on the topic last night on her show.  I note that Lutnick tried to offer an explanation that really didn't make any sense, Ingraham pushed again, and Lutnick essentially admitted he had no answer. Uh, Mr. Secretary, with all due respect, how is allowing 600,000 students from the communist country of China putting America first? Well, the president's point of view is that what would happen if you didn't have those 600,000 students is that you'd empty them from the top. All the students would go up to better schools, and the bottom 15% of universities and colleges would go out of business in America. So his view is he's taking a rational economic view, which is classic Donald Trump, looking at higher education and saying—But why are you helping Harvard? "Until we modify that." That just helps Harvard and UCLA and UC Berkeley, and that means you're all helping those schools. Why? They're like the pro—you know, basically factories of anti-American propaganda, and now they're getting a big influx of cash because of the Chinese students. I mean, I know President Trump has always been very pro–Chinese student, I just don't understand it for the life of me. Those are 600,000 spots that American kids won't get. Well, I'll tell you what I'm involved in. I'm involved in changing the H-1B program, right? We're gonna change that program— Oh, that's a scam. —because that's terrible, right? We're gonna change the green card. You know, we give green cards. The average American makes $75,000 a year and the average green card recipient $66,000. So we're taking the bottom quartile. All right. Like why are we doing that? That's why Donald Trump is gonna change it. That's the gold card that's coming, and that's—we're gonna start picking the best people to come into this country. I know. It's time for that to change. I think our American engineering students need to be given the first role at every job, and I think they're brilliant when given half a chance.
