Like Father, Like Son? “Talking Like My Dad Until He Notices”
TikTok star Joe Mele frequently does videos with his father, Frank Mele. Frank is most notable for resembling the restaurant critic in the Disney movie Ratatouille. He once dressed like Anton Ego, and the resulting video quickly went viral. Frank’s other memorable trait is his thick Long Island accent. Joe decided to try talking like his dad to see how long it takes Frank to notice.
Before his TikTok fame, Joe made his name as a software developer and entrepreneur and was a Long Island Innovator in 2000. He has been a vocal advocate for autism awareness in the past. His great-great-grandfather, painter William Hubacek, is pretty famous, too. Joe’s brother, Nick, has cerebral palsy and has been in several of Joe’s videos.
When Joe tried talking like his dad, Frank’s face wrinkled with the first “cawfee” request. The “dinnah” menu request prompted questioning eyes. The bottle of “wahtah” was too far over the top and had Frank asking, “What are you doin’?”

After Joe asked for clarification, Frank responded, “The way you’re tawkin’.” A short back-and-forth followed, until Frank said, “I know what you’re tryin’ tah do. You’re tryin’ tah imitate me, right?” With a snicker, Joe owned up to the prank, but Frank wanted no part of it.
“I know, yeah, really funny. You ever hear the way you tawk?” Frank made a hilarious face, then continued in an exaggerated imitation of Joe. “Dude! That’s so sigma! Bet! No Cap!” Needless to say, Frank was less than impressed with Joe’s prank.
