Today, his family provided an update on his condition. As it turns out, 81-year-old Robert Mueller was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago. Due to the progression of the disease, he has recently had trouble speaking. This comes as the House Oversight Committee has issued several subpoenas related to the Russia hoax, including one for Robert Mueller to testify before Congress. His family says he will be unable to testify for his scheduled deposition on September 2nd. Mueller’s family released a statement to The New York Times. That NYT report reads: Robert S. Mueller III, the former special counsel who investigated ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russia, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago, his family said in a statement on Sunday. In recent months, Mr. Mueller, a former F.B.I. director, has had difficulty speaking and experienced mobility issues, people familiar with his condition said. As a result, a congressional committee has withdrawn a request for Mr. Mueller to give testimony this week in its inquiry into the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigations. “Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the summer of 2021,” the family said in a statement to The New York Times. “He retired from the practice of law at the end of that year. He taught at his law school alma mater during the fall of both 2021 and 2022, and he retired at the end of 2022. His family asks that his privacy be respected.” The statement from the family came after the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said it would subpoena him to testify on Tuesday. The committee had sought to question Mr. Mueller, 81, about the F.B.I.’s handling of the Epstein investigation when he served as its director from 2001 to 2013. The former FBI director, then 74, oscillated between steadfastness and mumbling, his microphone at points failing him as he struggled to be heard above the din of spectators and photographers. “I was surprised that Mr. Mueller was so disorientated,” Republican Arizona Rep. Debbie Lesko told The Post after the initial three-hour testimony wrapped up. “He was unable to answer some basic questions, which really surprised me,” she said. His Parkinson’s diagnosis came just two years later, according to his family. The disease, which typically affects people over 60, causes tremors, slowness, and speech difficulties. There is no cure, though early symptoms can be managed. Parkinson’s can advance a lot in just a few years. It’s also possible that, just like Joe Biden, Mueller’s cognition was already declining when he was appointed Special Counsel in the phony Russia investigation. Asked during a Thursday segment of Fox News morning program Fox & Friends whether he found Mueller's reluctance and hesitation to answer questions asked by lawmakers frustrating, Levin placed his glasses on his face and let out a loud breath. "Look, I've seen people with onset dementia," the right-wing commentator said. "I'm not going to mock this man. He obviously shouldn't have been there. He should never have headed this investigation. I'm not making allegations. I'm not trying to be provocative, but the idea that [former Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein appointed this man to head this office is an outrage and he's the one who ought to be questioned about that." Levin, who hosts the weekly show Life, Liberty & Levin, argued that "everyone around Mueller knew he was incapable of doing what he did." He then attacked the former special counsel's "number two hatchet man [Andrew] Weissmann." The Fox News host accused Weissmann, who had a management role in the special counsel's investigation, of bringing in "a nest of leftists" to work as part of the probe's team. Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt jumped in after Levin finished attempting to discredit the Mueller probe, pointing out that there wasn't any evidence or reports that Mueller was in poor health. "Mark, we haven't confirmed anything about his health," she said. "There hasn't been anything released about that." Levin cut her off, saying he "agreed." However he added: "but he [Mueller] made it quite obvious." Earhardt then responded by saying Mueller wasn't "on his game," suggesting that people should "pray for" the former special counsel and his family. Mueller, 74, testified before the House Judiciary and House Intelligence committees on Wednesday about his 22-month long investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The investigation, which concluded in March, confirmed there was "sweeping and systematic" interference by Russia in an effort to favor President Donald Trump over Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
