Two Teens Arrested In The Murder Of Capitol Hill Intern
Justice will soon be served.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro has reported that two teens have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Capitol Hill intern.
Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, who was interning at Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS), was shot and killed in Washington, D.C. on June 30th.
For months, detectives were unable to locate the suspects who were responsible for his death, but now Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith has revealed two teens have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

FOX 5 D.C. reported more on the arrests and the tragic shooting:
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro provided an update on arrests in the murder of Capitol Hill intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym.
Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith said two 17-year-olds have been arrested and a third arrest is pending. Both teens will be charged as adults.
Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a University of Massachusetts Amherst student from Granby, Massachusetts, was struck by gunfire on the evening of June 30, 2025 at the intersection of 7th and M streets NW. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, multiple suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group of people. A woman and a 16-year-old boy were also shot but survived. Investigators believe Tarpinian-Jachym was not the intended target.
Tarpinian-Jachym was a senior majoring in finance with a minor in political science. He had been interning with the office of Kansas Rep. Ron Estes and previously served as a fellow with the Fund for American Studies.
“Eric was a good, smart Republican. Quite frankly, somebody in Congress should introduce a bill called the Eric Jachym Act that works on increasing police support in D.C, and Congress can do that,” said friend Phillip Petersen.

WCVB reported the identities of the two teens and revealed that they are being charged as adults:
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrests in the case Friday morning.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family,” Smith said. “We hope news of these two arrests and a third one pending — I’m confident we’ll get the third one — give Eric’s loved ones some sense of peace.”
Smith said the investigation was led by a detective in the MPD’s Homicide Branch with support from several federal agencies. The U.S. Marshals Service helped to make the arrests Friday morning, she said.
Cmdr. Kevin Kentish of the MPD’s Criminal Investigations Division identified the arrested suspects as Kelvin Thomas Jr. and Jalen Lucas. Both of the suspects are 17-year-old residents of Washington, D.C.
“They’re both charged with first-degree murder while armed, premeditated. Both are being charged as adults,” Kentish said.
Kentish said Thomas and Lucas were shooting in the direction of two others who were riding a bike and that the shooting was related to an ongoing “neighborhood crew dispute.” One of those on the bike was also injured in the shooting but survived.
