Jermaine Lamarr Cole, professionally known as J. Cole, was born on January 28, 1985, at an American military base in Frankfurt, West Germany, and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After graduating from Terry Sanford High School, Cole attended St. John’s University in New York City, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in communications and a minor in business.
