Immigrant doctor raped ten patients – now come the punishment

Domestic. The Court of Appeal has strengthened the sentence for Rainbow Doctors' former president Christian Abi-Khalil in Uppsala. He is now sentenced to eight years in prison for ten homosexual rapes against patients, a tougher assessment than in the district court where he was given seven years for two rapes and eight sexual assaults.


The severity also means higher damages. In total, Abi-Khalil will pay about SEK 1.9 million to the men affected.

This case is completely unique. Throughout my 32-year career as a prosecutor, I have never worked on anything like this," the prosecutor told local media.

The crimes were committed at receptions in Uppsala and Stockholm.

Patients have testified about how they trusted the doctor, but were subjected to sexual acts during what was stated to be medical examinations.

Abi-Khalil has constantly denied any wrongdoing and claimed that his actions had been medically justified. He also risks losing his medical license.
