Morgan Wallen Becomes The First Solo Act In History To Score Multiple 20-Week #1 Hits On Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart
Another day, another record.
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned over the past four years of Morgan Wallen’s continued dominance, it’s the simple fact that he’s going to continue smashing records with each subsequent release. While Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time certainly brought in their fair share of accolades, it’s more than apparent that I’m The Problem is well on its way to put the “Last Night” singer in a league of his own.
Upon its release, I’m The Problem broke Wallen’s previously set record of most songs charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week (37). Additionally, he became the first artist ever to spend at least 10 weeks atop the all-genre Billboard’s 200 chart with three consecutive albums and even skyrocketed all the way up to eight-most weeks spent on the chart by any artist in its history.
Today, he officially set another Billboard record, this time on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Spending its 20th straight week atop the chart, Wallen’s collaboration with Canadian pop star Tate McRae, “What I Want,” is now just the tenth song in the chart’s history to spend at least 20 weeks at #1. With this accomplishment, the track joins the likes of Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ “I Remember Everything,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” as the only songs to accomplish this feat.
What’s notable about “What I Want’s” inclusion in the exclusive 20-week club is that Wallen is now the first solo act in history to score multiple songs with a #1 run of that magnitude with “Last Night” spending 25 weeks atop the chart back in 2023.
Wallen now joins Florida Georgia Line as the only artists in Hot Country Songs chart’s 67 year history to accomplish this feat twice, as the former powerhouse duo became the first to do so thanks to Bebe Rexha’s mammoth 50-week #1 run on “Meant to Be” and their 24-week victory lap with “Cruise.”
Given Wallen’s continued dominance in the genre, amplified tenfold upon the release of I’m The Problem, it seems as if the 32-year-old singer/songwriter is bound to become the first artist in history to capture a third 20+ week #1 in the foreseeable future. If not with his current single, “I Got Better,” then with another high-profile collaboration that’s bound to happen eventually. For now, however, he’ll still claim the title as the first solo act to secure not one but two.
Longest-running #1s on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart:
