Sister Of Dolly Parton Asks For Prayers For The Country Legend Amid Health Issues: “Hasn’t Been Feeling Her Best”
We need you to get better, Dolly.
Late last month, Dolly Parton announced that she would be postponing her upcoming Las Vegas residency due to unspecified “health challenges.”
Back in June, Dolly announced she would be playing a run of very special shows this December as part of a Las Vegas residency, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas. She hasn’t been on a tour since her Pure & Simple tour which concluded in 2016, though she has done a few tours and shows here and there since then, so fans were obviously looking forward to seeing her back onstage for a full show.
She had six shows scheduled for the residency at The Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace this December:

But on September 28, Dolly’s team shared a post she wrote to fans announcing that she would unfortunately have to postpone her residency dates due to “health challenges.” She didn’t get specific, obviously, but the 79-year old Dolly explained that whatever she is going through will require surgery, and she will need time to recover, and therefore will not be ready to go in full show form by December.
In typical Dolly fashion, she joked that it wasn’t an appointment for her “usual trip to see my plastic surgeon,” and she feels as though God is trying to tell her to slow down for this season and rest up.
She assured everyone that she’s not quitting, and she plans to give the fans the show she feels they deserve as soon as she’s back to 100%:
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concert. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.
As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I wam not gong to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.
You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’m still able to work on all of my projects from Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. and don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.
But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding. “

Just recently, on September 17th, Dolly had to miss a previously-scheduled appearance at the announcement of her new Night Flight Expedition ride due to kidney stones, though it’s unclear if any of this is related.
And while we don’t know what the Queen of Country Music is dealing with, her sister is asking everybody to keep Dolly in their prayers through these health challenges.
In a post to Facebook, Dolly’s younger sister Freida Parton called for Dolly’s fans to continue to pray for her recovery:
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Obviously we have no idea what’s going on, but the fact that Dolly had to cancel some of her increasingly-rare performances and undergo surgery has fans concerned for the country music legend.
Hopefully it’s just a quick setback though, and we see Dolly back on stage soon. The post Sister Of Dolly Parton Asks For Prayers For The Country Legend Amid Health Issues: “Hasn’t Been Feeling Her Best” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
