Mae Estes Rewrites Second Verse Of “You Look Like You Love Me” During Surprise Performance With Ella Langley

In many ways, “you like you love me” has simply been the gift that keeps on giving for Ella Langley. Beyond its massive streaming numbers (255 million on Spotify alone) and virality online, the song netted her three ACM Awards back in April for Single, Music Event and Visual Media of the Year. Additionally, it’s been one of the most-played songs on Billboard’s new TouchTunes Frontline chart, peaking at #6 throughout the second quarter of 2025. Couple all those accolades with a 2x platinum certification from the RIAA and a #1 spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart last December, and you have yourself one of the most successful songs of the past few years. Given its popularity, it seems like we’ve heard the song in every way, shape or form over the past two years, ranging from the Alabama native bringing out Wyatt Flores for Green’s part earlier in the year to Green bringing out the likes of Hannah McFarland, Dasha and even a young fan at his recent Red Rocks show. Last night in Jackson, Wyoming, however, Langley, along with the severely underrated Mae Estes, treated fans to a brand new version of the song. I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard Green’s verse a few too many times by now. But in case you forgot, it goes as follows: “Well, I was down at a local beer joint with a few of the guysWhen this cute little country girl caught my eyeAnd boy, let me tell you, she was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen in a pair of bootsWell, she walked right up to me, handed me a beerGave me a look like, “Let’s get out of here”And that’s when I realized that she was every cowboy’s dream come trueShe told me this right here, she said” Estes’ version, on the other hand, is way different. As she noted in her TikTok video, Langley told her to make up her own verse since she’s never sung “you look like you love me” with a fellow female artist. What results is a fun little ditty, complete with references to the venue they were playing at, the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, their respective homestates of Alabama and Arkansas and the fact that the song itself taps into an old school country sound due to the spoken-word verses. “Well, me and Ella was down at the Million Dollar Cowboy BarTook a little drink and pick a little guitarWe stumbled on one hell of a honky tonk crowdSo we mixed a little Alabama and ArkansasThrew in a little bit of that southern drawlAnd turn that old school country up real loudGot everybody singing now” In some ways, “you look like you love me” has fallen into the category of great songs that unfortunately got a bit too overplayed over the past year. Like Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” it’s one of those tracks that have remained nearly inescapable whether you’re on the streets of Nashville or out at a local bar. With that being said, however, it’s always nice to hear a unique version of it, especially given the fact that the two are having so much fun performing. Minimally, the performance should serve as your weekly reminder to listen to more Mae Estes. She’s seriously that good.
