Yesterday, we brought you a story about Canada airing — and subsequently pulling — a fraudulent anti-tariff ad featuring the (very deceptive) words of Ronald Reagan. If you missed it, here’s the full scoop on that: CANADA CAVES: Fake Ronald Reagan Ad Pulled After President Trump Shuts Down Trade Talks While it is true that Ontario Premier Doug Ford has promised to take down the ad, there is a catch. He wanted it to play through the end of the weekend in order to air during the Word Series. So, it's not officially being pulled until Monday. President Trump wasn't happy about that, at all. In response, he just slapped a 10% tariff increase on Canada! On Truth Social, President Trump absolutely fumed at Canada. Read his scathing statement here: Canada was caught, red handed, putting up a fraudulent advertisement on Ronald Reagan’s Speech on Tariffs. The Reagan Foundation said that they, “created an ad campaign using selective audio and video of President Ronald Reagan. The ad misrepresents the Presidential Radio Address,” and “did not seek nor receive permission to use and edit the remarks. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is reviewing its legal options in this matter.” The sole purpose of this FRAUD was Canada’s hope that the United States Supreme Court will come to their “rescue” on Tariffs that they have used for years to hurt the United States. Now the United States is able to defend itself against high and overbearing Canadian Tariffs (and those from the rest of the World as well!). Ronald Reagan LOVED Tariffs for purposes of National Security and the Economy, but Canada said he didn’t! Their Advertisement was to be taken down, IMMEDIATELY, but they let it run last night during the World Series, knowing that it was a FRAUD. Because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now. Keep in mind that President Trump has also paused all trade talks with the country. ABC News has more: Earlier this week, Trump said he was halting trade talks with Canada over the ad, which launched earlier this month. The ad features audio with excerpts of a 1987 address by Reagan that came as he imposed some duties on Japanese products but cautioned about the long-term economic risks of high tariffs and the threat of a trade war. Trump claimed, without evidence, that the ad "was Canada’s hope that the United States Supreme Court will come to their 'rescue' on Tariffs that they have used for years to hurt the United States." The Supreme Court is set to hear a case this term about Trump's sweeping tariff policy. Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Friday he was halting the ads so that trade talks could resume but noted that it would air during the World Series. What do you think?
