Morgan Wallen Joked With Police During His Arrest That His Security Guard Used To Work For President Obama: “Unfortunately”
Not an Obama fan, eh?
Despite the fact that one side of the political aisle seems to hate him, Morgan Wallen has never really given any indication which way he leaned politically. I mean, it’s probably not hard to guess given that he’s a small town kid from Tennessee, but the country music superstar has never really waded into politics publicly. No indication of who he was voting for, no endorsements, no friends in politics…just not really his thing.
But it seems like we may finally have an answer to the question: Is Morgan Wallen a Democrat or a Republican?
The subtle (or not so subtle) hint comes from recently-released bodycam footage of his arrest on April 7, 2024 for throwing a chair off the rooftop of Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar, Chief’s.
In the new footage, Morgan can be seen standing around chatting with a Metro Nashville Police Department officer who is waiting with him while others are inside the bar watching surveillance footage. The two are having a cordial conversation, with the officer even asking what kind of boots Morgan is wearing and the country singer calling the cop “a good dude.”
The officer asks Morgan how many people he usually has with him when he goes out, referring to the security that he travels with, and the singer then introduces the cop to his two security guards, laughing as he reveals that one is even apparently a retired Secret Service agent:
“He used to take care of Obama. Unfortunately.”
In another light hearted moment during a conversation with another officer, Morgan takes a shot at San Francisco:
“That’s where you’re from, San Francisco? That where they got sh-t on the sidewalks?”
I mean, there’s a poop map showing where there’s poop on the sidewalks, so he’s not wrong about that one.

It wasn’t the only lighthearted moment that Morgan shared with the officers who ended up arresting him.
In previously-released dashcam footage obtained by the AP, Morgan seemed to be in decent spirits (probably thanks to some spirits…) all things considered as he was being driven to the jail, with the officer even telling the country star that he was one of their favorite artists. And as his government Uber driver took Morgan to the clink, one of the singer’s own songs came up on the cop’s Spotify playlist – which clearly excited Morgan:
“Oh sh-t this is me and Thomas Rhett! Turn it up! That’s me and TR! That’s me right there. Come on now, me and TR.”
It’s a little hard to hear, but apparently the song playing was “Mamaw’s House,” Morgan’s 2023 duet with his friend Thomas Rhett. And Morgan had high praise for his duet partner:
“TR is one of the best. He’s one of the best dudes in the world. He would DEFINITELY not be getting arrested.”
At least he had some good music to listen to on the way to jail.
The country music superstar was ultimately charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after throwing a chair off the roof of the building, and later pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in Davidson County court in December of last year.
Morgan was ultimately sentenced to two years of probation and seven days in jail, to be served at a DUI education center. The post Morgan Wallen Joked With Police During His Arrest That His Security Guard Used To Work For President Obama: “Unfortunately” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
