Morgan Wallen Catches A Stray From ABC’s ‘Abbott Elementary’ With Joke About Racial Slur Incident

He’s never going to escape that one. Of course everybody remembers the controversy surrounding Morgan Wallen and his use of a racial slur back in 2021. Video of the then-rising superstar drunkenly using the slur towards his friend was captured by his neighbor and shared with TMZ, resulting in Morgan being temporarily suspended from his label, pulled from radio, and banned from the awards shows. Morgan has done just fine since then, winning Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards last year and breaking records with both his music and his touring. (And he’s had a couple other controversies since then too). For the most part, though, it seems that most people have moved on from the incident – although it’s still a frequent criticism of Wallen from those who think he was too quickly forgiven for the slur. Apparently some people think he should have had his life ruined and be working at McDonald’s because of it or something. Well despite the fact that he’s managed to become one the biggest artists in the world right now, it seems Morgan will never be able to escape the jokes about the incident. Morgan even caught a stray on a recent episode of the ABC show “Abbott Elementary,” which made a joke (that was actually pretty funny) about the country singer. In the episode, a boy named Charlie is sent to the principal’s office for calling his teacher a name. The principal named Ava (played by Janelle James) questions Charlie about the word he used, but he doesn’t want to say it again, only revealing that it started with “N.” See where this is going? Charlie says that all the other kids call him that word, and when Ava says she’s going to call his parents he admits that “they say it too.” And that’s when Ava takes a jab at the country singer: “Oh, so you just got a whole family full of Morgan Wallens, huh?” Well the confusion is cleared up when the principal is informed that the word Charlie called his teacher was “nerd,” and not…that other word.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Bravo! We’re Black (@bravowhileblack) You’ve gotta admit, it’s pretty funny. While the racial slur incident didn’t really hurt his career, one of Morgan’s fellow country artists spoke out about it last year and said that he didn’t feel Morgan had been fully forgiven for his mistake – and he believes that he should be. Speaking on the incident, Darius Rucker praised Morgan for the growth that he’s shown after the controversy: “I think Morgan’s become a better person since that. I’ve known Morgan a long time. Since all that happened Morgan’s tried to really better himself and become a better person and see the world in a much better way. And you know, he’s not forgiven. He’s still not out for CMAs and ACMs. They can say what they want, but the fact that Morgan Wallen’s not up for Entertainer of the Year and those things is crazy. No one’s selling more tickets than Morgan. Maybe Luke Combs is right up there with him, but you know, they’re playing stadiums, man.  But that’s society, and what I think doesn’t matter, and people are going to make their own opinion and go with it. So it is what it is.” Of course not long after that interview Morgan did, in fact, win Entertainer of the Year – an honor that he wasn’t present to accept and hasn’t acknowledged since. The post Morgan Wallen Catches A Stray From ABC’s ‘Abbott Elementary’ With Joke About Racial Slur Incident first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
