“Grow Up” — Kelsea Ballerini’s Ex, Actor Chase Stokes, Blasts Her Fans For Comments About His Previous Relationship With Madelyn Cline

Not having it. This past Friday, Kelsea Ballerini released her new EP Mount Pleasant, which is pretty good, and I especially love “I Sit In Parks.” That’s a hit. But of course, this release comes with a lot of speculation about her personal life, as she recently broke up with Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes, though they were recently spotted together in Dubrovnik, Croatia (where Outer Banks has been filming) earlier this month, so maybe they’re not actually broken up… who knows. It seems the real drama is in the comments section on TikTok, where Kelsea shared a video getting ready in a stunning red dress with her new song “People Pleaser” playing in the background. There were tons of negative comments referencing Stokes’ ex-girlfriend and Outer Banks co-star, Madelyn Cline, as a lot of Ballerini fans have speculated that another song on the EP, “Emerald City,” is about Cline. And apparently, Stokes saw a lot of them, and called out Ballerini’s fans pretty harshly by telling them to “grow up” because of all the “weird” comments: “These comments are f****** weird. Grow up.” It probably wasn’t the nicest way to say it, but I think he’s right… @kelseaballerinifor my fellow people pleasers. i see you. ♬ People Pleaser – Kelsea Ballerini In terms of the lyrics that led fans to speculate on the inspiration behind “Emerald City,” Ballerini does admit she’s jealous of a boyfriends former flame, though of course, she doesn’t mention Cline or Stokes by name, but that is her most recent relationship so I guess it would make since seeing that it was so recent: “I’m not crazy (Not crazy) I’m just a girl, kinda jealous, kinda insecure And I hate how (I hate how) it takes me Down an old road where she used to be yours And it’s tough to admit it, but it might break me Let me know you hate to see me hurt ‘Til one day (One day), it won’t phase me (Won’t phase me) Thinking about you, thinking about her I’m good as gold, but when she’s around My true color comes out (Out, out)” I guess Stokes and Ballerini might not even be ex’s anymore after they were spotted together in another country following their breakup, but I don’t blame Stokes for being frustrated by the fans taking things too far… most stars try to just ignore the comments section a lot of the time, but sometimes fans need to be put in their place and I think it’s pretty respectable that he actually said something because it really was getting out of hand in terms of her fans really coming for Cline for no reason. Just another day on the internet…. You can listen to “Emerald City” below and see what you think. “Emerald City” This is the standout, though… “I Sit In Parks” The post “Grow Up” — Kelsea Ballerini’s Ex, Actor Chase Stokes, Blasts Her Fans For Comments About His Previous Relationship With Madelyn Cline first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
