Keith Urban Gets Slammed After Fans Find Out He Performed At Mar-a-Lago For President Trump

Politics aside, “Pink Pony Club” is a banger. But I digress… Over the weekend, Keith Urban performed at President Donald Trump’s Florida estate Mar-a-Lago, which included a medley with Chappell Roan’s hit “Pink Pony Club.” The show took place on Saturday, November 15th, which was a private party hosted by Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt. According to People, “The president was seen sitting next to Pratt, 65, an Australian businessman donated $10 million to Trump’s 2024 election campaign. In April, Pratt also pledged $5 billion to support Trump’s call to reindustrialize the U.S., according to Axios.” Urban also sang some of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love,” and after just a verse or two of “Pink Pony Club,” he went into his hit “You’ll Think of Me.” You can see part of the performance in the second slide of the Instagram post below: View this post on Instagram Of course, in September, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman filled headlines when news broke they were separated. TMZ reported the two had been living apart since the beginning of summer when Keith moved out. Sources tell the news outlet that Nicole has been taking care of their two children and is “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.” The source added that Kidman was trying her hardest to save the marriage, making Urban’s decision to move out one-sided. While many fans hoped they would find their way back to each other, they were heartbroken when news broke that Kidman had officially filed for divorce from the country star, which was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by People. Since the divorce, there has been some back-and-forth between the two parties about who feels hurt and who has allegedly already moved on. While it’s been pretty quiet on that front, fans who were upset about the Mar-a-Lago performance flooded his most recent Instagram post to express their displeasure. Some were upset because of the sheer fact that he sang “Pink Pony Club,” as Chappell Roan is not a fan of Donald Trump, and this story in particular chronicles the story of a young woman leaving her small Southern town to embrace her true self in California, and Roan has previously talked about how she was inspired to write the song after going to a famous gay bar called The Abbey in West Hollywood, California, which she references in the song. Others were just upset that Urban would associate with President Trump, seemingly making his political beliefs known. Although, performing there doesn’t necessarily mean he voted for the man, you generally assume a wildly successful artist wouldn’t perform for someone they can’t stand. Keith doesn’t need the money… In 2017, Urban explained that he wasn’t sure if he’d ever perform at the White House while President Trump was in office, according to The Hill: “I would like to probably answer that question when it comes up, but I’m a citizen, and I like to do what’s right.” More recently, in 2024, Urban told The Times: “I’m often amazed that people don’t look to artists’ work — they’re pretty clear on who they are and their views, and I’m no different. I play to extremely diverse audiences in every way, politically and pronoun, age groups, ethnicity.” Well, it sounds like he ultimately did make a decision about playing for President Trump, even though it wasn’t at the White House. Of course, a lot has changed culturally since 2017, but at the same time… having a diverse audience doesn’t mean you can’t play for Donald Trump. But of course, in the climate we live in in 2025, you can imagine how many more comments there were on his most recent post (which had nothing to do with this performance, but rather the new reality show The Road) that were just like this… “Mar-a-Lago? Wtf dude?” “‘Pink Pony Club’ at Mar-a-Lago?! How tone deaf can you be?!” “So heartbroken by your decision to play at Mar-a-Lago. It’s bad enough that an artist I’ve loved and respected for the last 20+ years played there, but to cover a Chappell Roan song? It’s a slap in the face to your LGBTQ+ fans like me. Mistakenly, I thought you believed in human rights.” “Stay away from our music.” “Just deleted all your music.” “Well dude. Your career is done for. Playing at Trump’s recent event and singing Chapelle Roan songs- are you kidding? Nicole did the right thing by FLEEING!” “I’m so disappointed in you. Performing at Mar-a-Lago, seriously?” “You played a Trump event??? YIKES.” “I’m so disappointed in you. Performing at Mar-a-Lago, seriously?” “Keith…you played at Mar-a-Lago. You are dead to me.” “So sad to learn Keith Urban is MAGA. I think this might explain split with Nicole.” “Why tf were you performing at Mar-a-Lago and does Chappell Roan know you were singing her songs??” “You are dead to me. Enjoy your red hat.” “I am so glad Nicole has nothing to do with him.” “Nooooow I get the reason she divorced you…” “Keith Urban you’re a sellout for performing at Mar-a-Lago.” “Money over morals?! Pathetic!! But not surprised.” “Keith the Trumpster.” “You’ve really disappointed a lot of your fans.” View this post on Instagram With a divorce in progress and two daughters to take care of, I’m sure Urban has much bigger things to worry about than a few people unfollowing him for cashing a massive check for performing at Mar-a-Lago. You do you, Keith… don’t bow down to the vultures. The post Keith Urban Gets Slammed After Fans Find Out He Performed At Mar-a-Lago For President Trump first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
