FACT-CHECK: President Trump Says “Quiet, Piggy!” To Reporter?

Time for a quick Fact-Check! Huge day in the news, but what’s the most viral story going around? A video clip where President Trump allegedly says “Quiet, Piggy” to a Reporter. I mean, we truly live in the best timeline don’t we? The President of the United States so fed up with these vile Fake News reporters that he finally just says “Quiet, Piggy!” is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. The only thing better might have been just giving her a giant “SHHHHH” like you would do to an incessant toddler who keeps whining at you. I hope this is real. I WANT this to be real… But is it? First let’s just watch the clip: So there you go, that’s the clip. Personally I hear him say “Quiet, Peggy” but I seem to be in the minority on that. Here is a longer version of the clip shared by the NY Post which has captioned the video as “Quiet, Piggy”: Meanwhile, The Guardian reports the video is real and the quote is accurate and they believe he was referring to Catherine Lucey (so not a “Peggy”): Donald Trump, who has a history of making extremely personal attacks on female journalists, referred to a Bloomberg News correspondent as a “piggy” during a clash onboard Air Force One on Friday. While the remark did not initially get much attention, it picked up some traction on Tuesday and has drawn backlash from fellow journalists, including some who have previously been attacked by Trump themselves. Catherine Lucey, Bloomberg’s White House correspondent, had taken advantage of a press opportunity with the president – known as a gaggle – to ask a question about the unfolding Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the possibility of the House voting to release all of the files related to his case, which now appears likely. As Lucey started to ask why Trump was behaving the way he was “if there’s nothing incriminating in the files”, Trump pointed at her and said: “Quiet. Quiet, piggy.” CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs first reported that Trump called a Bloomberg News reporter “piggy”, though she did not specify who it was. “Disgusting and completely unacceptable,” CNN anchor Jake Tapper wrote on X, sharing a clip of the incident. Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson also called the remark “disgusting and degrading”. Ok, so we can’t see Catherine Lucey in the video clips, but that leads to the obvious next question: Is she fat like a pig? By all I can find, no she is not. Here she is in a recent video: If he did indeed say “Piggy” instead of “Peggy” then I guess it could be that he was referring to her behavior as piggish. Pigs are disgusting creatures, they but their way into things.  They slop around in the mud. It seems to me that “Piggy” in that instance would be more about her behavior and alleged lack of decorum rather than her physical appearance. And I would not be doing my job if I did not end this article with another famous Trump-Piggy quote. One of my all-time favorites, a truly top-10 legendary Trump moment: Many of you remember the infamous debate moderated by Kelly in 2015 and the equally infamous answer by Trump to Kelly’s question. Remember this? What an incredible moment. “Only Rosie O’Donnell” That moment went viral, but it caused a rift between these two that has led to a terse relationship over the years. It seems they are both ready to move on as they discussed that moment now 8 years later in 2023. Watch here: https://twitter.com/MegynKellyShow/status/1702152024081449325 Share!
