Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 3 as David Reed Takes Over as Showrunner

News Twisted Metal Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 3 as David Reed Takes Over as Showrunner Peacock is ready to twist some more metal… or something By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on November 18, 2025 Courtesy of Peacock Comment 0 Share New Share Courtesy of Peacock The second season of Twisted Metal has come and gone, and the show racked up enough views that Peacock has greenlit it for a third season.  According to Variety, the series is not only getting more episodes, but a new showrunner as well. The first two seasons saw co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith at the helm (his previous credits also include writing for Cobra Kai). He’ll be leaving the show, and David Reed will be coming on board as showrunner and executive producer. Reed’s previous credits include writing for The Magicians, The Boys, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He also has an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, which produces Twisted Metal.  The second season of the show, according to Variety, had 993 million minutes viewed (whatever that means), which makes it the second-biggest returning original scripted season (again, whatever that means) for the streamer. The series is based on the popular PlayStation video games and stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Will Arnett.   Like the games, the show follows Mackie’s character trying to survive a deadly demolition tournament, which features other players like my personal favorite based on photos alone, the killer clown, Sweet Tooth. What Twisted Metal‘s third season will explore remains unknown, as does news on when the show will go back into production and return to Peacock.
