Daughter Of Kansas City Chiefs Owner Says She Would Rather See Jason Aldean Headline The Super Bowl Halftime Show Than Bad Bunny
Pushing for a country halftime show.
It’s been over 30 years since we’ve gotten a country music Super Bowl halftime show. Now, Shania Twain and No Doubt did co-headline the 2003 show, but the last time we got an entire halftime show devoted solely to country music was way back in 1994 when Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt and The Judds delivered a rockin’ performance of their hits like “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” “No One Else On Earth” and “It’s A Little Too Late” before ending with a moving performance of “Love Can Build A Bridge.”
Seems like we’re way overdue, right? Especially with how big country music has become as a genre.
Well Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, is endorsing the idea of another country artist headlining the Super Bowl – while also applauding Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA for staging an alternate halftime show this year.
The alternate halftime show, which the organization is billing as “The All-American Halftime Show,” was announced after Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was selected as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX. His selection was controversial after the Grammy winning rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, said that he would not be touring in the United States due to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. (Remember, he’s from Puerto Rico – which is also part of the United States).
“But there was the issue of — like, f–king ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
Obviously Trump supporters weren’t thrilled that somebody who had publicly spoken out against Trump and law enforcement was selected for the halftime show, seeing his selection as a political statement against the president by the NFL and halftime show producer Jay-Z with his company Roc Nation.
Turning Point USA, the organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, announced after the Bad Bunny selection that they would instead stage an alternate halftime show that would pay tribute to America, though performers for the show have yet to be announced.

Regardless, it sounds like Gracie Hunt plans to be tuning in.
During an appearance on The Will Cain Show on Fox News this week, Hunt criticized the selection of Bad Bunny while praising Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, for organizing the alternative programming:
“I really respect Erika for all that she’s done, especially with creating a halftime show for America…
When my grandfather named the Super Bowl, he intended it to be something that children and families of all ages could come together and watch, and really believed that the game should come first. That football is the attraction and that it didn’t need to compromise its character or rely on cheap appeal to draw an audience, especially when that approach can alienate so much of the fan base.
You know, the NFL honors women, the military, this country, celebrates communities, and so I think that whoever they select going forward for the halftime show needs to reflect those values more closely. So, I respect Erika.”
As for who she would select for the Super Bowl halftime show, there were a couple fairly obvious names that came quickly to mind:
“I think that America loves country music. Jason Aldean would be fantastic. Or we could even do a compilation of some fun pop. I’d love to see Ms. Taylor Swift out there at some point once Travis is retired.”
I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether she gets her way. But for now, it sounds like she’s more interested in the Turning Point USA halftime show than the production that the NFL will be putting on this year. The post Daughter Of Kansas City Chiefs Owner Says She Would Rather See Jason Aldean Headline The Super Bowl Halftime Show Than Bad Bunny first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
