William Clark Green Announces New Album, ‘Watterson Hall’

He’s back. Today, William Clark Green announced his seventh album Watterson Hall, which will be out everywhere on March 6th. Of course, Green has made quite a name for himself in the Texas country scene since releasing his first album way back in 2008. Since then, he’s been playing to sold-out crowds in Texas and beyond with his gritty vocals and authentic songwriting, while also joining forces with some other Texas country greats as a member of The Panhandlers. After more than 15 years of writing, performing and earning a passionate fanbase that packs venues, the Eastland, Texas native offers a new-found perspective in his life and celebrated career following marriage and the arrival of his children. And the lead single and title track, “Watterson Hall (Me & You)” tells the story of a romantic night with his wife dancing at her hometown dancehall, marking the first ever love song he’s written for her that he felt was “good enough” to share with the world: “‘Watterson Hall (Me & You)’ is a love song I wrote for my wife after a night of dancing at her hometown dancehall. It’s the first love song I’ve ever written for her that I felt was good enough to share. The song shows a more personal side of my writing – it came together quickly but not without effort, and it reflects the changes in my life with marriage and family. At its heart, it’s about love, experience, and writing something real.” View this post on Instagram It’s a beautiful song, and the perfect way to kick off this next record, which will also explore his life as a dad and husband, which has only enriched his life and expanded his worldview. The songs cover everything from love and loss to life lessons, shaping meaningful songs that embrace joy, resilience, and of course, a healthy amount of humor, too. Watterson Hall was made in Nashville with producer Logan Wall, and Green’s 2024 track “Whole Lotta Lubbock,” as well as songs like “Where the Wild Things Are,” “Stubborn and Remains” and “Dear Life” will also be on the tracklist as well. Green was raised on country classics and influenced by Texas greats like Jerry Jeff Walker and Robert Earl Keen, and Green himself has been a staple on the Texas/Red Dirt scene for years. Attending college at Texas Tech University, Green is one of numerous artists to have gotten their start at the Blue Light, a legendary venue and hot bed for great music in Lubbock. He’s criminally underrated, and while he’s certainly one of the premiere artists in the Texas scene, his music never seems to get the appreciation it deserves and I am certainly looking forward to hearing all of this new music, because it sounds like the lyrical content and overall themes might be a bit different than what we’re used to hearing from him, and I can’t wait. “Watterson Hall” The post William Clark Green Announces New Album, ‘Watterson Hall’ first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
