WATCH: Ron DeSantis Asked If He’s Considering 2028 Presidential Run

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he’s “not thinking about anything” when asked if he’s considering a 2028 presidential run. “President Trump faces those term limits. He is not going to be able to run for re-election in 2028. Are you thinking of maybe running?” CNN‘s Jake Tapper asked. “I’m not thinking about anything because I think we have a president now who has not even been in for a year. We’ve got a lot that we’ve got to accomplish,” DeSantis said. “I’m obviously working hard to put points on the board in Florida, but look at the election results two weeks ago for Republicans, that was not good,” he continued. “You know, we’ve got to do a good job as Republicans. And I think that should be the number one priority. And the way you do well in the midterm elections is to produce positive results. And so I would focus on that, this jockeying and all that I don’t think is productive for us, get things done for people,” DeSantis continued. “You know, we showed in Florida when I came in, we were a purple state. Now we’re considered a red state because we produced results and people followed,” the two-term governor added. Recent polling from the University of New Hampshire says he’ll struggle again in what is historically the first-in-the-nation Primary state. The “Granite State Poll,” his worst showing in any state poll so far, shows the Florida Governor with 3% support overall. This puts DeSantis behind Vance (51%), former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley (9%), National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard (8%), Secretary of State Marco Rubio (5%), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (4%), and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky (4%). Vice President JD Vance is widely considered the GOP frontrunner in the 2028 presidential election. YouGov conducted a survey from November 6 to 9 that showed the Texas Republican with 4 percent support, trailing Vance at 42 percent. Donald Trump Jr., the son of the current president, came in distant second at 13 percent. DeSantis was at 7 percent and Rubio was narrowly ahead of Cruz at 5 percent. The survey included 2,172 U.S. adult citizens and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
