Nearly one in three truck drivers pulled over during a recent operation in Texas were illegal immigrants, many of whom received Commercial Driver’s Licenses in California, Texas Governor Greg Abbott revealed Wednesday. Texas troopers, with the help of federal immigration authorities, found that 31 of the 105 truckers they pulled over in the state’s panhandle on Nov. 11 were in the country illegally. While liberal states like California issue licenses to illegal immigrants and risk the lives of Americans, Texas will work with our federal partners to maintain safe roads and apprehend illegal immigrants to protect our communities,” he said. The Trump administration is withholding $40 million from California after a federal investigation found that state authorities weren’t enforcing the English-language requirement for truck drivers. Florida authorities have also pressured California to take action after illegal immigrant Harjinder Singh allegedly killed three people while making an illegal U-turn in August in the Sunshine State. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a lawsuit in October against California over its sanctuary policies and decision to issue Commercial Driver’s Licenses to illegal immigrants.
