“The Brady Bunch” Stars Share How Thanksgiving Episode Changed The Show Forever
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We can almost smell the turkey and stuffing. We’re definitely ready for some pumpkin pie and cider by a crackling fire. Of course, someone has to make all of that delicious food, and while we cook, we have to watch TV. There are some classic Thanksgiving movies and TV shows that are on rotation this time of year. We can’t forget the flying turkeys on WKRP in Cincinnati. And nothing makes us cry quite like John Candy and Steve Martin in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. But we’d be remiss in skipping over The Un-Underground Movie. You may not recall the episode by the official title, but what if we called it The Brady Bunch Thanksgiving Episode? Does that ring a bell?

The “The Brady Bunch” Went All In For Thanksgiving
No, Alice didn’t cook The Brady Bunch a giant meal, but she did dress up for Greg’s school project movie. Christopher Knight and Barry Williams, who played Peter and Greg Brady, respectively, spoke of the episode on their podcast, The Real Brady Bros. The episode helped mold what generations loved about the Brady family.
“I enjoyed filming it,” Barry said. “It was quite memorable having everybody in the backyard. I thought it was a lot of fun, it shows a lot about our family dynamic. This is early on in the second year, and it shows a lot about how we were relating and operating as a family: the communication, how we resolved issues, what it was like. I just thought it was a really good example of Brady.”
Chris agreed and remembered having a lot of fun filming the episode. He added that the Thanksgiving episode changed the dynamics of The Brady Bunch.
“The original concept of the show…was really supposed to be about adults and how they’re affected by their children,” he said. “The perspective being that originally the concept was the stars of the show were going to be the adults, and the kids sort of intersect those adult lives and changed their course as a result. Ultimately, it became a show truly about the whole family because everyone’s everybody’s influencing everyone else. And in this episode, I see a remnant of that beginning.”
