JUST IN: Fire Erupts in U.S. Capitol Underground Trolley System — Two Police Officers Hospitalized

This afternoon, a fire broke out in the U.S. Capitol underground trolley system, which is used by members of Congress, aids, and guests to travel between buildings. Specifically, there was a fire in the tunnel connecting the Capitol buildings with the Rayburn House Office Building. Due to the smoke, people were evacuated, and at least two police officers were sent to the hospital. Here’s some footage of the fire: BREAKING: It looks like there’s a FIRE in the US Capitol subway. Did Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries spontaneously BURST INTO FLAMES because of their evil behavior? It would fit. pic.twitter.com/vHtcNlyEen — Mila Joy (@Milajoy) November 20, 2025 #BREAKING: Officials now report that at least two people are now receiving medical treatment after a fire broke out in the underground trolley system connecting the U.S. Capitol buildings and the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington DC that had prompted evacuations due… pic.twitter.com/KGkT4SaYWE — R A W S A L E R T S (@rawsalerts) November 20, 2025 Luckily, it doesn’t seem like there were any serious injuries. Florida Congressman Jimmy Patronis shared: Crazy day at the Capitol, tunnel fire broke out in Rayburn, but thankfully no one was hurt. Join me in thanking to @dcfireems for all their hard work in saving our nation’s Capitol! pic.twitter.com/4Jij3BRa6U — Jimmy Patronis (@JimmyPatronis) November 20, 2025 We don’t know the exact cause of the fire, but authorities say it was electrical. Fox News has more details: The D.C. Fire and EMS Department confirmed crews responded to a small electrical fire atop the underground trolley, which was later extinguished. Fire officials confirmed two U.S. Capitol Police officers were taken to the hospital for evaluation. None of the passengers on the trolley were injured, officials said. Prayers for all involved. While this is a serious matter, some of these responses are, frankly, hilarious: If only someone knew to pull the fire alarm. pic.twitter.com/h94CNCQOX9 — Derek /WEN SHIB ETF (@telecrypto75) November 20, 2025 Jamaal Bowman where are you when we need you — WildBillNC (@WildBillNC1978) November 20, 2025
