SHOCKING UPDATE: Alleged Gunman Who Sh*t National Guardsmen in D.C. Worked With the CIA in Afghanistan

The suspected gunman who shot two National Guardsmen just steps away from the White House in D.C. on Wednesday has been identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal from Afghanistan. Earlier, we reported that he was an Afghan national. However, more details are now emerging about his life and how he got to America. Some of those are quite shocking… First, it turns out that he entered the United States under a Biden-era program during the Afghanistan withdrawal and never left. His visa expired a few months ago, so he was living in the U.S. illegally. He entered the U.S. legally in 2021 under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome during the Afghanistan withdrawal — via humanitarian parole. His permission to stay here expired in September, per DHS sources. Thoughts? DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed in a statement: The suspect who shot our brave National Guardsmen is an Afghan national who was one of the many unvetted, mass paroled into the United States under Operation Allies Welcome on September 8, 2021, under the Biden Administration. I will not utter this depraved individual’s name.… — Secretary Kristi Noem (@Sec_Noem) November 27, 2025 The suspect who shot our brave National Guardsmen is an Afghan national who was one of the many unvetted, mass paroled into the United States under Operation Allies Welcome on September 8, 2021, under the Biden Administration. I will not utter this depraved individual’s name. He should be starved of the glory he so desperately wants. These men and women of the National Guard are mothers, fathers, sisters, daughters, children of God, carrying out the same basic public safety and immigration laws enshrined in law for decades. The politicians and media who continue to vilify our men and women in uniform need to take a long hard look in the mirror. Bryon and I will be praying hard for these two National Guardsmen, their families, and every American who puts on uniform to defend our freedom. Apparently, this wasn’t just some random Afghani terrorist, however. Rahmanullah Lakanwal previously worked with the U.S. government in Afghanistan — including as a member of a CIA partner force. Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, entered the United States on the heels of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 under the Biden administration. Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. a month later under “Operation Allies Welcome.” Intelligence sources told Fox News Digital that Lakanwal had a prior relationship with various entities in the U.S. government, including the CIA, due to his work as a member of a partner force in Kandahar. “In the wake of the disastrous Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden administration justified bringing the alleged shooter to the United States in September 2021 due to his prior work with the U.S. government, including CIA, as a member of a partner force in Kandahar, which ended shortly following the chaotic evacuation,” CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox News Digital. “The individual—and so many others—should have never been allowed to come here,” Ratcliffe continued. “Our citizens and service members deserve far better than to endure the ongoing fallout from the Biden administration’s catastrophic failures.” Ratcliffe added: “God bless our brave troops.” Absolutely unbelievable. At this time, Lakanwal is currently in the hospital, and it’s being reported that though he is not cooperating with authorities. An official motive has not been determined, at this time. Some reports say he yelled “Allahu Akbar” prior to the attack, but this has not been confirmed. BREAKING – The National Guard shooter has been identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan illegal who entered the United States under the Biden administration in 2021 and reportedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” during the attack. pic.twitter.com/h3KklqepoQ — Right Angle News Network (@Rightanglenews) November 27, 2025 Here’s a breakdown summary of everything we know the gunman, so far: The alleged shooter is Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national. He entered the United States in 2021 under the “Operation Allies Welcome” program, which resettled Afghans after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. According to some reports, he was granted asylum — though his current immigration status is described as “unclear.” The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m. near the Farragut West Metro Station in downtown Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House. Authorities say he acted as a “lone gunman” and carried out a calculated ambush on National Guard troops on patrol. He initially fired four rounds from a handgun. After shooting one guard (a woman) — striking her immediately — he reportedly grabbed her weapon and used it to fire on a second guard. A third National Guard member intervened, returned fire, and ultimately subdued Lakanwal. Lakanwal was wounded in the exchange and is now in custody and hospitalized. As of now, he is not cooperating with authorities. Law enforcement (including the FBI) is investigating the attack as a potential act of terrorism, though no official motive has yet been revealed. According to a DOJ report, the Biden-era program that let Lakanwal into our country failed to properly vet Afghan nationals. Essentially, they let dozens of terrorists into our country — whether due to incompetence or malice is unclear. The New York Post has more: Roughly 90,000 Afghans were allowed entry into the US and became eligible for Special immigrant Visas under the Biden administration’s Operation Allies Refuge (OAR) and Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) programs, which provided the foreign nationals immigration processing and resettlement support. In June, US officials identified 55 Afghan evacuees on the terrorist watchlist who had immigrated from the Middle Eastern country during the botched operation, according to a Justice Department inspector general report. The report found the Biden Administration failed to properly vet US-bound refugees as the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan. After investigations, the FBI eventually removed 46 evacuees from the watchlist, determining that they posed no threat to the homeland. However, nine remained in the terror database as of July 2024 and eight were in the US. Evacuees, including Afghan allies, their families and other vulnerable groups, were either placed with relatives in the US or temporarily sheltered in military “Safe Havens” until they were resettled. Bellingham, where the suspect lived, was among the Washington cities targeted for Afghan refugees under OAW, with some 800 resettled in 2022, according to the Immigrant & Refugee Health Alliance. Others were placed in Seattle, Tacoma, Yakima, and Spokane. With two proud American soldiers potentially losing their lives due to a crazed Afghani gunman, it’s too late to remedy this. The Biden administration has blood on their hands. However, President Trump is taking action to prevent further attacks like what happened on Wednesday. Every immigrant from Afghanistan who was let into the U.S. during Joe Biden’s sham presidency will now be re-examined.
