White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller has been among the most outspoken critics of the open-borders policies that have allowed dangerous criminals to roam the streets of America for years. And in the wake of a tragic shooting, allegedly committed by an Afghan national, near the White House that left two National Guard members hospitalized, Miller had some tough talk for millions of foreign-born individuals currently living in the States. In a pre-Thanksgiving interview, Trump’s border crackdown was among the top things he said he’s thankful for this year, per The Independent: “I praise God every day that Donald Trump is our president and we’ve gone from 30 percent inflation, 20 million illegals, unlimited refugees, violent crime in our cities to security in our cities, no illegals, no more refugees, and finally a country that puts American citizens first.” While inflation in the United States was high under Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, year-on-year inflation peaked just below 10 percent in mid-2022. And, while the Democrat did record cumulative inflation of 21 percent over the course of his presidency, neither figure comes close to Miller’s assessment. His claims about undocumented migrants and that the country was overrun with “unlimited refugees” as well as the effectiveness of Trump’s decision to send federal forces into Democrat-run cities such as Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles this year have been hotly debated nationwide. Miller pointed to Minnesota as his prime example, saying Democrats cemented their power in the state by encouraging an influx of Somali migrants. “Look how powerful the Democrat Party became in Minnesota once they flooded it with 100,000 Somalians. Once the elections were decided by clan rivalries and ethnic feuds. Once that happened, the Democrat Party became permanently powerful in Minnesota. They became permanently powerful in the Twin Cities. That’s their model for America, to make the whole country into a version of Somalia. And everything they do gets down to that. So, yes, what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving.
