Volbeat is one of the most successful and distinctive rock bands to come out of Denmark, blending hard rock, heavy metal, punk, and rockabilly into a sound entirely their own. The band was formed in Copenhagen in 2001 by vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, who had just disbanded his death metal group Dominus.
