Theo Von Reveals That He’s Doing A Bible Study With Morgan Wallen: “Not Sure What Chapter We’re On”
Bettering himself.
Morgan Wallen is getting into some wholesome community groups while he’s not on the road.
During a recent This Past Weekend episode with comedian LeAnne Morgan, Theo Von revealed that he and Morgan Wallen are in a Bible study together. The conversation started with Von telling Morgan that she owed the “I Got Better” singer a casserole. Von suggested that if she cooked it the night after filming the podcast, he would give it to Wallen the following day at Bible study.
Leanne replied:
“You will see him at Bible study? I think he’s gonna end up preaching. That little thing.”
Morgan joked to the podcast host. But in all actuality, maybe that statement isn’t too far off. Morgan Wallen was raised in church and is a preacher’s son (his dad, Tommy, served for a time as a local Baptist church pastor in Sneedville, Tennessee). Even though his rebellious spirit might not always show it, if you listen closely to his lyrics, it’s evident that he is a believer. And who knows, now that he’s a father and has seemingly settled it down a bit, maybe there’s more to his faith journey on the horizon. A “Prodigal Son,” if you will…
Wallen has also spoken about how he is not afraid to intertwine his faith in his lyrics. After the release of his second collaboration with Post Malone, I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” fans were quick to notice that there were references to Jesus and the resurrection of Christ in the lyrics. In a video clip talking about the song, Wallen shared that he’s fond of referencing his faith when he can.
“‘I Ain’t Comin’ Back’ with Post on it. This was written during the time when Post was working on his album. I’ve always loved this song, and I told him, ‘Hey, if you don’t put this on your album, then I’m gonna put it on mine.’
And ‘I Had Some Help’ just seemed like an obvious, straight down the middle, this song is a hit kind of song, so he ended up putting that on his record. But I love this song too. I love what it says; there’s a lot of cool imagery. And, you know, me as a Christian, I think anytime I can throw little hints of that in my music, I’m all for it. It’s good.”

“I Ain’t Comin’ Back” is not the first time Wallen has referenced his faith in songs. Other examples include “I Wrote the Book,” “Don’t Think Jesus,” and “In the Bible,” featuring HARDY, among others.
Wallen has also demonstrated how he believes faith can heal out and about in his community. Last year, after the detrimental aftermath of Hurricane Helene, he gave back to his community by holding a food & water drive in Knoxville, partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee to collect bottled water and food for those in need. And the country superstar showed up with some friends, including comedian Theo Von, to help out and visit with those in the community who were impacted by the storm.
He also stopped at the homes of flood victims and took time to leave a poignant Bible verse on the studs that remained. He wrote out Psalm 40:2, which in the King James Version (in the spirit of Appalachia, we’ll go with that one), reads:
“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”
So the idea of Wallen being in a Bible study isn’t that wild once you dive a little deeper into his backstory. Back to This Past Weekend, Von responds to LeAnne Morgan’s statement that she thinks Wallen will end up preaching:
“You know, I have no idea. I just know… Yeah, he’s an inspiring guy. He’s interesting. Morgan is… He is him.”
LeAnne then asks what kind of Bible study they are in, whether they are doing a Beth Moore Bible study or sharing what they are currently discussing in their study. Von’s response makes you chuckle because it sounds like it might be more of a time for Von, Wallen, and other members of the study to catch up and enjoy a few moments of peace with the Lord, but they aren’t necessarily diving into the weeds of the holy wood.
“I mean, tomorrow I think we’re watching a movie. But, it is, uh… It is Bible study. I’m not sure what chapter we’re on. I shouldn’t have said that…”
I mean, hey… studying the word of the Lord is great, but let’s be honest, a lot of people are part of Bible study for the community and camaraderie, so just because Von doesn’t know which chapter they are on doesn’t mean they are not exercising their faith.
Morgan Wallen and Theo Von’s friendship is so wholesome.

If you want to watch the entire episode, fire that up while you’re here, too. LeAnne Morgan is a hoot, so it’s worth the watch:
