Michelle Kwan dazzled on the ice during her time as a figure skater. She won medals in both the 1998 and 2002 Olympic Games. After retirement from competition, Michelle went on to a career in public service and politics, but yearning to be a mother. In 2022, she welcomed her daughter, Kalista Belle, making a lifelong dream come true. On December 11, the 45-year-old announced the birth of her second daughter, Della Rose, a surprise to many fans. “Christmas came early. I’m overjoyed to share that our baby girl — Della Rose Kwan — has arrived! My heart doubled in an instant the moment I held her in my arms, and watching my daughter walk into the hospital to meet her baby sister brought tears to my eyes. I’ve always dreamt of having children, and when Kalista came into the world, I was already beyond grateful for a miracle that once felt impossible after years of trying” Michelle wrote on Instagram. Michelle Kwan shared that even though she pushed her body to the limits as an Olympian, motherhood is her most significant challenge to date. “To all the moms, moms-to-be, and the women and families dealing with infertility or praying to build a family—I know what you’re going through and I’m hoping you feel loved and supported in every way as you navigate this journey,” she wrote. “Beautiful, beautiful Michelle. A joyous gift. We are just so happy for you and your expanded family!!!” A fan shared. “Congratulations, Michelle. Your family is – and always has been – beautiful,” another person wrote. Fellow figure skater Tara Lipinski also shared well-wishes for Michelle Kwan. “Congratulations! I’m so happy for you and your family!” She wrote. What a tremendous blessing right before Christmas.
