“He’s Stronger Than Me” – Megan Moroney Offers Hilarious Response To Young Georgia Fan Who Refused To Sing “Rocky Top”

Megan Moroney‘s got jokes. If you haven’t been online the last few days, you might have missed this hilarious viral moment that’s garnered a reaction from the “Tennessee Orange” singer. But this is a viral moment that is well worth watching. A young Georgia Bulldogs fan named Nolan McGill is making waves online for refusing to sing at his Chattanooga school’s Christmas program. Long story short, this school put on a holiday performance for parents, siblings, and friends to enjoy. They covered several classic Christmas hits and then closed out the show with a performance of “Rocky Top,” originally recorded in 1967 by the Osborne Brothers. The song that the University of Tennessee has adopted as its unofficial fight song was not getting any notes from the young Georgia fan, creating a hilarious moment. “Rocky Top” embodies that stereotype about UT fans that they are loud and a little redneck, which makes the moment even more hilarious, that a bunch of young kids are belting out the song, all while Nolan stands on the back of the chorus riser looking completely unamused and slightly disappointed by the whole thing. @kelseymcg2 When the school wants you to sing Rocky Top in the holiday performance but you’re a Dawgs fan. #georgiafootball #godawgs @UGA Football ♬ original sound – Kelsey Funny enough, after the moment gained traction online, David Pollack – a former College GameDay analyst for ESPN – tracked down the kid and had him on his See Ball Get Ball podcast. It was in the short interview that we all learned more about Nolan McGill: he had grown up in Tennessee but was raised a Georgia fan. The young man, who clearly bleeds red and black, explained why he chose not to participate in that part of the Christmas program (he sang the other, non-Tennessee-related tunes). It really just came down to him not wanting to betray the Bulldogs: “It was an after school winter program. Our music teacher had us sing a whole bunch of songs. And one of those songs was ‘Rocky Top,’ sadly, and I’m never gonna sing that trash… It’s a horrible song. Go Dawgs.” View this post on Instagram Just when I thought the moment could not get any better, Megan Moroney entered the chat. The Georgia native and Bulldog fan quoted the viral video on X and hilariously noted: “He’s stronger than me.” I mean, that’s FUNNY. he’s stronger than me https://t.co/QlCdvC7PRr — Megan Moroney (@_megmoroney) December 18, 2025 The “Tennessee Orange” native betrayed her fandom when she had a fling with Morgan Wallen, which inspired her first #1 hit. The song was co-written by Megan, Ben Williams, David Fanning, and Paul Jenkins, and details her falling for a guy who’s seemingly converted her into a Tennessee Volunteers fan. She confesses she’s now wearing “Tennessee Orange for him,” and even finds herself going to games at Neyland Stadium. To add to the song’s lore, many fans speculated that the Vols fan who led her to betray her Dawgs loyalty was Morgan Wallen… While Megan Moroney has never confirmed that the “TN” singer inspired the song, she has confirmed that the jersey she sported in the album artwork for the single did indeed belong to Wallen during a conversation with SiriusXM. She later shared on Call Her Daddy that the two were a fling at one point but are now friends and on good terms. But no matter who the song was about, fans were more upset about the betrayal of rooting for–even if temporarily–for the SEC rival school. During an interview earlier this year on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Megan talked about her inspiration for that song, saying she knew that if her mom had seen her wearing that “gaudy orange” shirt, she would have freaked. Still, it proved how much Megan really liked the “mystery man” they wrote about: “Yeah, so, when I moved to Nashville, one day, I found myself wearing a Volunteers shirt. And I remember looking in the mirror, going, ‘My mom would absolutely kill me right now if she saw me in this gaudy orange.’ And so then I thought, that would make a really good love song, like, I like this dude enough to not wear Georgia red.” But then she revealed she got “death threats” over that song from some angry college football fans: “And yeah, I got death threats over that song.” @latenightseth How @Megan Moroney ♬ original sound – Late Night with Seth Meyers Maybe Megan Moroney and this young Georgia fan need to get together so he can teach her a lesson in fan loyalty. The post “He’s Stronger Than Me” – Megan Moroney Offers Hilarious Response To Young Georgia Fan Who Refused To Sing “Rocky Top” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
