Lawmaker Accused of FEMA Fraud Faces Backlash After Editing Luxury Ring Out of Holiday Post

Florida Democrat Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is coming under fire for a rather interesting reason… On Christmas Day, she posted this: From my family to yours, wishing you a Merry Christmas and a joyful, safe holiday season. #SCM #FL20 pic.twitter.com/rO7VVjCggA — Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (@CongresswomanSC) December 25, 2025 Here’s a screenshot of her post, just in case it gets deleted: At first glance, it looks like a normal Christmas social media post. But, something very telling is missing from the photo she used. In the original photo, Rep. McCormick is wearing an expensive diamond ring. She has also been spotted wearing this same ring, which is worth roughly $109K, in Congress. But, it appears that Rep. McCormick or someone on her team had the ring edited out of her Christmas greeting. You can see a comparison of the original and edited photo here, as well as a clip of Rep. McCormick wearing the ring: Backup here, if needed: LMFAO! Dem Rep. Sheila McCormick got EXPOSED for editing out a $100K+ ring she reportedly bought with stolen FEMA dollars in a Christmas X post She’s under indictment for $5 MILLION in FEMA theft. KICK HER OUT OF CONGRESS ALREADY! pic.twitter.com/PzoIJtuQ2E — Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) December 26, 2025 So, the question is: why would someone edit out a ring like this? Well, it might have something to do how she got the money to buy it… You see, Rep. McCormick was indicted last month for stealing millions of dollars in FEMA funds. Newsweek provided some additional context: A federal grand jury in Miami indicted Cherfilus-McCormick and several co-defendants in November, charging them with stealing roughly $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster-relief funds. They are also accused of funneling the money into Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Cherfilus-McCormick represents Florida’s 20th District. Her brother, Edwin Cherfilus, also was charged after allegedly diverting an overpayment from a COVID-19 vaccination-staffing contract to the family’s home health care business. Both have pleaded not guilty… Cherfilus-McCormick has denied claims and is pleading not guilty while still serving Florida’s 20th District. In 2024, Florida’s Division of Emergency Management sued Trinity Healthcare Services, which Cherfilus-McCormick led before entering Congress. The company was accused of overcharging Florida by nearly $5.8 million for COVID-19 vaccination registration work. Rep. McCormick is pleading not guilty to the allegations and still has her Congressional seat. It may not be absolute proof of guilt, but editing out a luxury ring in a Christmas photo certainly isn’t helping her case! Take a look at some of these responses from folks on X: Nice admission of guilt. — MAZE (@mazemoore) December 26, 2025 Look, I’m sorry but if she isn’t in prison already, that what the actual hell are we doing here? Stealing federal funds meant for disaster victims to buy yourself a $100,000 DIAMOND RING is a special kind of evil. Is literally every Democrat a criminal?!!!! — Matt Van Swol (@mattvanswol) December 26, 2025 Nothing to see here, folks. Just ADGAWS: Another Democrat Getting Away With Sht.* $5 million gone, diamond ring vanished, portrait photoshopped… and they wonder why trust is gone. — Desiree (@DesireeAmerica4) December 26, 2025 Your thoughts?
