Prince William has been a lifelong soccer fan. He carefully follows his beloved Aston Villa and does his best to catch a game when he can. William showed up at Aston Villa’s UEFA Europa League match against RB Salzburg on January 29. Aside from royal family-level security, Prince William looked like any other fan enjoying soccer. He jumped, yelled, and cheered as Aston Villa took home a win. It was an exciting moment for everyone involved. It was a moment that meant a lot to the father of three. “But I thought, it’s been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition,” he told TNT sports. “I hope it’s not 43 years until the next time it happens, but I think those memories are really important to create, and to bring him along tonight is a big deal for me.” Photo by Molly Darlington/Getty Images For the most recent match, William showed up without his kids. He still had one heck of a time. “Prince William was in attendance at Villa Park on the evening of January 29, 2026, to watch the match between Aston Villa and RB Salzburg, which marked the 8th and final round of the UEFA Europa League group stage,” an X post reads. Seeing Prince William watching soccer like a regular person is so wonderful. He may have a very different life from most, but deep down, he’s a man who loves watching sports, like many men we know.
