Darius Rucker Stuns With A Full Orchestra Rendition Of Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me”

Hootie can sing anything. Darius Rucker is going viral for an impressive cover of Frank Sinatra’s “Come Fly With Me” with the BBC Concert Orchestra, which was filmed in the Radio 2 Piano Room. Backed with the impressive orchestra, Darius sounds incredible singing the 1958 song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen, with lyrics by Sammy Cahn. Of course, it was written for Frank Sinatra and included as the title track of his 1958 album of the same name. It’s a music standard, covered by countless artists over the years, but I don’t know if I’ve ever heard one like this. Darius is known for his work with Hootie & the Blowfish, as well as his solo career in country music, but to hear him sing jazz is just special and he’s always had a smooth, strong voice, so I’m not that surprised that he did such a great job with this: @bbcradio2 Darius Rucker covers Frank Sinatra in the #R2PianoRoom Listen on BBC Sounds | Watch on BBC iPlayer #dariusrucker #franksinatra #flymetothemoon ♬ original sound – BBC Radio 2 Fans in the comments section were blown away with Darius’ rendition, and many mentioned how versatile he is which he’s proved time and again: “PIVOT DARIUS PIVOT — THIS IS YOUR LANE NOW.” “HOOTIE BEEN KEEPING THIS FROM US???????” “Again, I say, (shout actually): IS THERE ANYTHING THIS MAN CAN’T SING??!” “Every new decade of my life gets a new Darius Rucker style of music that I can get behind! I need an album of old standards from him, because I am now old.” “So talented.” “The most sensible cover ever to be sung in the BBC piano room.” “I would go out on a limb to say Darius Rucker is my generations most versatile singer. Pop rock, country, and now Big Band Sinatra, just wow.” “Darius is a gift.” “He can anything!” “Darius Rucker takes the same route as all Gen X singers — get a big band and sing standards.” “DARIUS RUCKER IS LIKE THATTT.” “A true artist who can do a little bit of everything!!!” “Generational voice.” “Dang Hootie you been holding out on us!?” “Please do a Jazz album!!” “Love this voice. So smooth.” “I’ve been waiting for you to sing this style. Perfect!” To be so versatile, and good, at so many different genres goes to show how truly talented Darius is, but when it comes to doing an all-time classic like this, it’s nothing short of spectacular and I can’t get enough. Obviously, having that incredible orchestra backing him just takes it to the next level, and I could listen to him do songs like this all day.
