Vincent Neil Emerson Announces New Record, ‘Blue Stars,’ Releases New Single “Jet Plane”
If you’re not familiar with Vincent Neil Emerson, now is the time to tune in. There’s a chance you might have heard some of VNE’s songs on the hit Taylor Sheridan shows like Landman and Yellowstone, and if you were a fan of what you heard there, you’re in luck because new music is on the way from the “Big Wheels” singer.
The Texas native is not only a songwriting mastermind but is also rooted in tradition. He keeps the traditional sound of artists like Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark alive, while still carving out his own.
“I think I’ve always gravitated towards artists that are honest about what they’re doing. It’s the most important thing because people have a chance to connect to a little more if you’re telling the truth.”
VNE once said regarding what inspires his songwriting, and he’s carried that truth-telling musical spirit throughout his career.
2025 was a slow year for Emerson in terms of new music, but the man was hard at work, spending much of his time on the road, taking his music to all the corners of the United States. While Emerson was putting releasing new music on the back burner for 2025, that did not mean that he wasn’t in the studio working. The “Rodeo Clown” singer was hard at work recording a record that will be released later this year, per a social media post reflecting on 2025:
“Been a real great year. Been a real sh**ty year too. We live for the good days, and we get through the rest. Thankfully, my good days are better than my bad ones. That hasn’t always been the case, but somewhere along the way we hit a stroke of good fortune. Just gotta remember that. Thank y’all for always showing up. Can’t wait to ring in the new year here at home tonight and hit the road next year. Also can’t wait to drop this new record in 26…”

New music VNE promised, and new music he delivered on. Emerson recently announced his fourth studio album, Blue Stars, is slated for a April 17, 2026, release via La Honda Records. The record was recorded with producer Patrick Lyons and Vincent’s touring band, The Red Horse Band, at Gnome Studios in Nashville, TN.
LET’S GO.

Coinciding with the album’s announcement, Emerson also released a new single, “Jet Plane,” a song he wrote after traveling miles in the sky, turning his fear into a love song.
“‘Jet Plane’ is a love song I wrote after taking too many plane rides. Flying isn’t something I’m very fond of, but it’s an occupational hazard. I guess sometimes love songs can be too.”
The soft, slow lyrics draw the listener into a love-struck haze, filled with steel guitar and silky-smooth vocals. Emerson turned his fear of flying into a dreamlike state, turning his time in the clouds into a tune about finding peace with the woman he loves.
“I was blinded by the sunlight on the waves
And it reminds me how you shine on everything
Turn on your light and let it shine down on me”
“Jet Plane” shares the same vibe as the previously released tune “The Great Highway,” which draws on Emerson’s life as a traveling musician and turns it into profound metaphors. “Jet Plane” has me excited to see what else is in store for Blue Stars come April.
