Mia Dates lives in the Village of Lynwood, outside of Chicago, with her family. In January 2025, her dad, Xavier Dates, took a nasty fall down the steps. When he hit the bottom of. The Village of Lynwood praised Mia for staying. calm and calling the police for help. “When her dad, Xavier, suffered a serious fall at home, Mia stayed calm under pressure, called 911, provided critical information to the dispatcher, and let paramedics into the house when they arrived. Her actions made all the difference. Our Mayor Jada D. Curry, along with the Chief’s of Village of Lynwood Police Department and the Lynwood Fire Department, stopped by the Dates home to acknowledge her heroic response. She will also be formally celebrated at an upcoming Village Board meeting,” the village shared on Facebook. “Mia reminds us all that courage, calmness, and compassion have no age limit.
