“I’m On Drugs” — Dolly Parton Has Hilarious Response When Asked How She Continues To Work So Much
Dolly Parton’s work ethic never ceases to amaze he… I truly wonder how she does it all. The woman does not stop working, and even after the passing of her husband Carl Dean in March of last year, and less than two weeks later, Dolly was back to work at her Dollywood theme park.
In addition to that massive operation, Dolly has many other ventures she spends her time on, including her Imagination Library foundation, Dolly Beauty, Dolly Wines, and so much more… truly this article would probably never end if I listed everything Dolly has going on.
And she’s always been that way, throughout her entire career she has been relentless with her work, and it’s proved to be a very winning strategy, and even turning 80-years-young in January couldn’t slow her down. It’s something I admire the most about her, and during a press appearance ahead of Dollywood’s opening day tomorrow, where Dolly will serve as grand marshal in the opening parade per tradition, she was asked the million dollar question I think many of us want the answer to… how does she do it all?
It’s truly something to behold, and in typical Dolly fashion, she had a hilarious response, saying she’s “on drugs,” which got a roaring laugh from the audience. She went onto to give it a more serious answer, though, saying she runs on “creative and spiritual energy,” and she always prays that “God will lead” her:
“I’m on drugs. No, actually, I live off of creative and spiritual energy, and I just love what I do and I just pray that God will lead me…”
Classic Dolly… our last great national treasure:

Speaking of Dolly’s great contributions to society, thanks to her long history of support for various children’s hospitals over the years, most notably the recent star-studded re-release of her 1977 hit, “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” which saw all proceeds from the song fund pediatric cancer research at Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, the Tennessee native is receiving a huge honor.
It was recently announced that East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville will officially be renamed Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital in honor of the country music legend and her history of giving back to the Tennessee community.
Located at 2018 W Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee, the hospital has been open since 1937. Over the years, it has remained one of the leading pediatric centers in the state, boasting nearly 20 locations, including primary cares, urgent cares, surgery centers and rehabilitation facilities, in East Tennessee. In a statement, Dolly expressed how honored she is to stand alongside the hospital and bring hope, comfort and healing to the children and their families when they need it most:
“Being fortunate to have grown up in the mountains of East Tennessee, I learned early on what it means to take care of one another. Every child deserves world-class care, wrapped in kindness and love. I’m so honored to stand alongside this hospital and do my part to help bring more hope, more comfort and more healing to children and families.”
In a video posted to the hospital’s website, she once again stated how much of an honor it is to support the hospital as well as its doctors, nurses and staff. Additionally, she highlighted how she wants to highlight the fact that world-class medical care and kindness for those in need go hand-in-hand.
“I am so honored to support these doctors and nurses and their team members and volunteers who show up every day with courage and kindness. Together, we’re committed to strengthening a relationship where world-class care and a caring heart go hand-in-hand for children across East Tennessee and beyond.”
