Carter Faith Surprises Nashville Crowd With Glen Powell, Crowns Him The “Bar Star” Of The Night
You never know who you will see in Nashville.
Music City has turned into a little Hollywood of sorts over the last decade. Not in the sense of many shows being filmed there, like how Taylor Sheridan is making Dallas/Fort Worth his personal Hollywood, but in the sense that you never know what famous faces you might pass as you walk down the street.
And for the most part, celebrities and musicians love Nashville because most people just let them live and aren’t bothered by autographs or selfies. Of course, that also has a little bit to do with where in town they are spotted, if it’s on Broadway, aka tourist central… good luck, Chuck.
Last night, Nashville concert goers were shocked when the one and only Glen Powell made a surprise appearance at the historic Exit In. The F1 movie star stopped by Carter Faith’s show at the famed black box venue, and rather than being a spectator for the evening, Carter Faith has a surprise up her sleeve for the actor.
During the first night of her run at the Exit In, she brought Powell out on stage and crowned him the “Bar Star” of the night. Powell came out on the stage and shared a few words with the audience about how he’s having a time in Music City.
“I don’t have much of a story; I just went out on Broadway for the first time last night. I hit six bars… Oh wait! Twelve bars in six hours, I lost in beer pong to Hardy. I’m barely kicking today; I got an IV. But Nashville does it right, you guys are wild. I love you all. Thank you for having me.”
Faith then bestowed a stash on Powell that he proudly wore on stage. After Faith gave him his “Bar Star” sash, she hilariously said:
“You’re like the Homecoming queen!”
HA. She’s got a point.

“Bar Star” has quickly become a fan favorite tune off Faith’s debut album, Cherry Valley. The cheeky tune highlights how Faith is drawn to men who tend to hang around dive bars, who might be a little grungy and definitely bad for her. But she’s got a type, and she’s not afraid to share that she loved a “Bar Star.”
“‘Bar Star’ is a fun song about a lovable honky-tonk man. In simple terms, he’s the star of the bar—for better or for worse—but damnit, she loves him.”
The song became even more of a phenomenon after she got the Landman star Billy Bob Thornton to appear in the music video. Ahead of the video’s release, Faith dropped an Easter egg for fans, hinting that he might appear in the “Bar Star” music video, role-playing how he would call Thornton, begging him to be part of the song’s visual.
“This is how I would ask Billy to be in my music video. ‘Hey Billy, it’s me, Carter… Do you remember me? I wrote some songs with you. You know how you’re an actor? I was thinking how cool if you acted in one of my music videos. It would be really good for your career… (Faith chuckles).
Which song? No, not the song “Billy Bob Thornton” that I wrote about you. A different song, actually. Yeah, it’s a song about a guy, he’s really talented, especially at drinking. It sounds like the role of a lifetime. I would supply Michelob Ultra, cigarettes, but you’d have to do it for free. Because I’m broke… Let me know what you think! Bye…Will you ordain my wedding? Okay, bye.’”
Beer and cigarettes? Hell, I’d star in this video for that.

Sure enough, Billy Bob agreed, and he became Carter Faith’s “Bar Star” for the song’s visuals. I love this crossover, especially since Faith has another tune named after the actor. She loves some Billy Bob Thornton, can you blame her?
Fire up the tune before you go:
