Trump Outlines How Iran Ends And ‘Epic Fury’ Is Only Part Of The Story

While aboard Air Force One on Friday evening, President Donald Trump sent out a post on Truth Social indicating that his administration is considering “winding down” the war operation in Iran. “We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran,” the president wrote. Trump went on to detail the objectives that have been met in Iran: “(1) Completely degrading Iranian Missile Capability, Launchers, and everything else pertaining to them. (2) Destroying Iran’s Defense Industrial Base. (3) Eliminating their Navy and Air Force, including Anti Aircraft Weaponry. (4) Never allowing Iran to get even close to Nuclear Capability, and always being in a position where the U.S.A. can quickly and powerfully react to such a situation, should it take place. (5) Protecting, at the highest level, our Middle Eastern Allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and others. The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them.” Aboard Air Force One: POTUS sent his latest Truth back to the press. pic.twitter.com/sJ71zfM2gr — Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) March 20, 2026 The president’s message comes as the war in Iran reaches the end of its third week and oil prices continue to rise. In addition to the Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz nuclear facilities that were severely damaged in the June 2025 “Operation Midnight Hammer” bunker buster strikes by the United States, “Operation Epic Fury” has targeted thousands of strategic sites in Iran, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command centers, missile and drone launch locations, air defense systems, ballistic missile production facilities, and many others. The United States even struck military sites on Iran’s Kharg Island — something Trump predicted he might do as far back as the 1980s. A key pain point in the war has been the near impassability of the Strait of Hormuz, a shipping lane through which approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil transits, which Iran has held hostage as the war drags on. Additionally, Iran has continued to fire missiles and drones at Israel, as well as other Gulf states, in retaliation for the ongoing conflict. As of Friday, deceased former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s son Mojtaba Khamenei stands as the nation’s new leader, though he has not appeared publicly since his father’s death. During a press briefing last week, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that “Iran’s leadership is … underground, cowering. That’s what rats do. We know the new so-called not-so supreme leader is wounded and likely disfigured.”
