Former FBI director Robert Mueller, whose investigation into President Donald Trump’s first presidential campaign made him a Democratic hero, is dead at 81. As special counsel, Mueller led the probe into whether there was Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The investigation, which took place during Trump’s first term, earned Mueller praise from Trump’s enemies, and scorn from the president. “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!” Trump posted to Truth Social on Saturday.Muller had Parkinson’s disease, the New York Times reported in August.
