Republicans Just Sent Democrats a Warning in Two Off-Cycle Elections
Every time the media tells us the “Trump magic” is wearing off, the voters step in and set the record straight.
That’s exactly what happened this week.
Republicans just posted huge wins in two off-cycle elections — one in New Mexico, one in Florida — and the margins are not even close. We’re talking massive double-digit overperformances compared to how President Trump did in those same areas in 2024.
Translation? The MAGA movement isn’t just holding. It’s growing.
Take a look at what has folks across conservative social media fired up:
MAGA IS ALIVE: Three local Republican wins on April 14, 2026: West Miami mayor (+11% over Trump 2024). West Miami city council (+18%).Rio Rancho NM mayor runoff where Paul Wymer leads 65-35 (vs. Trump's +3 there).— Bella (@stockbella) April 15, 2026
In New Mexico — a state Democrats have been crowing about for years — Republican Paul Wymer just crushed his Democrat opponent in the Rio Rancho mayoral runoff by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.
In 2024, President Trump barely squeaked by in Rio Rancho with a slim 51-49 win. This time? Wymer took it 63-37.
That’s not a shift. That’s a landslide.
Newsweek laid out the numbers:
Republican-backed candidates won in elections in New Mexico and Florida with large majorities bucking a trend of Democrats making gains in votes during President Donald Trump’s second term, according to preliminary results. In West Miami municipal elections, Eric Diaz-Padron secured 70 percent of the vote to Yolanda Aguilar’s 29 percent in the race to be mayor, while sitting commissioners Gustavo “Gus” Ceballos and Juan Blanes and now commissioner-elect Victoria de la Torre all won by similar margins.During the 2024 presidential election, Trump won the city by 64.1 percent of the vote, compared to Kamala Harris’ 34.1 percent. In New Mexico, Paul Wymer is on track to win the race to be the next mayor of Rio Rancho, according to unofficial election results. Wymer, a registered Republican according to the Santa Fe New Mexican, has 63 percent of the vote to Alexandria Piland’s 37 percent in a runoff election.
Let that sink in. Trump won West Miami 64-34 in 2024. The Republican mayor there just pulled 70 percent.
