Nick Saban Says He Gave Morgan Wallen & His Crew A “Halftime A** Chewing” Ahead Of Tuscaloosa Concert

Nick Saban had one heck of a time walking out in Tuscaloosa with Morgan Wallen earlier this month. Back on April 18, the country music superstar took his Still The Problem Tour to Tuscaloosa, Alabama – home of the Crimson Tide. Because Wallen was playing Bryant-Denny Stadium, on a field that’s now reffered to as Saban Field, there was a lot of speculation about the legendary head coach returning and walking out with Morgan. All of the speculation turned out to be true: @whiskeyriff @morganwallen #whiskeyriff #nicksaban ♬ original sound – Concert Views Safe to say that Morgan Wallen has really mastered the art of the walk out, and always boasts some impressive, special guests at his shows. And when you are playing at Bryant-Denny Stadium, there’s no guest more special than the Alabama royalty that is Nick Saban. When the former Alabama football coach who brought six national titles to Tuscaloosa was a guest on The Paul Finebaum Show today, he discussed how honored he was to be Wallen’s guest. According to reporter Mike Rodak, Saban (who has now transitioned into a media career, but still lives in Tuscaloosa) thoroughly enjoyed the walk out mainly because he wasn’t coaching a football game that night: “That’s the first time I’ve ever walked down that tunnel and there was no consequence in terms of winning and losing a game, so that was fun.” Though he wasn’t in coaching mode, and hasn’t been since he retired in early 2024, Nick Saban still flipped the switch while he was backstage. He told Paul Finebaum that he embraced hanging out backstage with Morgan Wallen and his band. They were situated in the home locker room, which Saban is plenty familiar with. Once he found out that a lot of Wallen’s crew is made up of former athletes, he decided to pull out a classic, Alabama pep-talk for the country music star: “I really enjoyed having the time backstage with those guys, which was the locker room. That was our locker room. Great band, great group of guys. Lot of them were former athletes. It was a lot of fun. They actually got in a big huddle and I gave them a halftime a**-chewing, told them they needed to get in gear.” Nick Saban to @finebaum on Morgan Wallen walkout: "That's the first time I've ever walked down that tunnel and there was no consequence in terms of winning and losing a game, so that was fun." If only there was a video of that somewhere out there (chances are there is, but we’ll never see it). Watching Nick Saban get Morgan Wallen fired up to play a show would be a sight to see, and though the world didn’t get to see that, they did get to witness the legendary coach walk out with the country music superstar.
