“Signed, Sealed, And Delivered” – Republican Governor Signs New Congressional Map Into Law
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed the state’s new congressional map into law, which is expected to provide Republicans four additional U.S. House seats.

Fox News shared further:
The GOP-controlled Legislature passed the proposal just days earlier and the Senate approved it, one week after DeSantis’ office delivered the plan to lawmakers.
DeSantis and Republican allies have pointed to Florida’s population growth as justification for redrawing the map, which is expected to draw immediate legal challenges from Democrats and left-wing voting rights groups.
Florida Republicans hold a 20-8 advantage in the state’s congressional delegation under the map DeSantis signed four years ago. The new map could expand that edge to 24 seats by reshaping districts now held by Reps. Kathy Castor, D-Fla.; Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla.; Darren Soto, D-Fla.; and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla.
The map would leave Republican red across most of Florida, with four Democratic strongholds relegated to major metro areas.
Those four Democrats have said they intend to seek re-election, though some are weighing runs in newly configured districts.
“No more race-based gerrymandering. Florida’s Congressional map is fair and represents our people. This wasn’t difficult. It only took Governor @RonDeSantis two weeks to get it done. It just takes common sense and some guts,” Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins said.
“While I stood with Governor DeSantis to take action, @ByronDonalds stayed silent because he’s too scared of being sued. After the past 8 years of conservative wins, we can’t afford to downgrade to an all-talk, no-walk politician,” he continued.
Collins is running for Governor of Florida to replace DeSantis, who is term-limited.

The Hill has more:
DeSantis’s legal counsel has argued that language in the state constitution stating race should be considered in redistricting is unconstitutional. This argument came into focus Wednesday after the Supreme Court handed down its much-awaited decision regarding the Voting Rights Act, weakening the ability for race to be considered while drawing congressional maps.
Because the language around the consideration of race in redistricting was a part of a broader state constitutional amendment voters approved in 2010, DeSantis’s legal team has suggested the other language included in the measure, including banning partisan gerrymandering, is also likely to be void.
However, Florida Democrats have argued that the Supreme Court’s ruling has not impacted the state constitution’s provision on the consideration of race because the high court did not technically strike down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act.
They also point out that the state constitution still bans gerrymandering for partisan intent.
