According to the actress, Nicholson noticed her dedication and later recommended her to casting director Dianne Crittenden and filmmaker Bob Rafelson as an undiscovered talent. That recommendation eventually led to a meeting for the film Stay Hungry, which became one of the first major steps toward a more respected acting career. The movie featured Jeff Bridges and Arnold Schwarzenegger and marked what Field described as the beginning of real change in Hollywood.
