AMC+ has picked up the streaming rights to the beloved—and currently somewhat at sea—British time-travel series. But if you would like to watch all of Doctor Who, AMC+ will not be able to satisfy you. The platform will host 13 seasons of the Who revival, all of which have been unstreamable for about a year. (They were previously on HBO Max.) Another way to put this: You’ll be able to watch Doctors Nine (Christopher Eccleston) through Thirteen (Jodie Whittaker) on AMC+. But you won’t be able to watch the classic seasons of Doctor Who, or the 60th anniversary specials, or the two seasons starring Ncuti Gatwa that were produced with (and are still streaming on) Disney+. If you would like to watch classic Doctor Who, you’ll need a different streaming platform. (That’d be Britbox. Or Tubi. Some episodes are also on Pluto.) This is somewhat perplexing, and user-unfriendly, but the whole situation with Doctor Who has been perplexing for a bit. The second Disney+ season ended in 2025, when Gatwa regenerated into—surprise!—Billie Piper. But this happened with no further seasons announced, and in a cloud of uncertainty about the future of the BBC/Disney partnership. In October of 2025, the BBC announced that the Doctor would return at Christmas 2026; the statement also seemed to confirm that the Disney partnership is over. That said, Disney+ is still expected to air the spinoff series The War Between the Land and the Sea at some point this year, though no release date has been announced. (The series has already aired in the UK.) It’s entirely unclear who might air this year’s Christmas special in the US.
