‘America Is The Good Guy’: Fetterman Boldly Supports President Trump’s Iran Policy

He might keep declaring that he has no intention of leaving the Democratic Party to become a Republican, but at this point Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is sounding more like a MAGA supporter than some of his GOP colleagues.  Most recently, he appeared on Fox News to discuss the military operation in Iran, which he insisted is a noble cause and went on to explain why. The Gateway Pundit provided some of the transcript, including his reaction to a recent vote across party lines that allowed the action in Iran to continue: “I’m very much aware how damaging it is as a Democrat to vote with the President,” Fetterman said. “The seventh time that I have done that because I fundamentally believe that Iran should never acquire a nuclear bomb,” Fetterman said. “This isn’t a crazy idea. This used to be a thing that we all used to agree on,” Fetterman continued. Bartiromo explained that past Presidents and other government officials have said that Iran cannot acquire a nuclear weapon. “You had several Presidents even before President Trump and several Secretaries of State, I mean, like 10 officials, saying that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Do your colleagues, are they not aware of that?” Bartiromo asked. “I mean, I hope, but right now it’s become people, like it’s, you know. America is the good guy. You know, Iran is the bad guy. I mean, of course, nobody likes to see gas at these prices right now,” Fetterman said. “I’m wondering if the overall theme within the Democrats is just hate on Trump. I mean, some of the things that they are bringing up. I mean, they are talking about what? They are talking about the pool at the White House. They are talking about the ballroom. I mean, we are in the middle of a war here. We’ve got serious issues,” Bartiromo said. As with the Pennsylvania Democrat’s many previous remarks aligning with the president, his comments this week sparked criticism from his side of the aisle and praise from the opposite: Sadly, Fetterman has done more for the Republican platform than Thune and Cornyn. — The Good, the Bad & the Ugly (@JonSanchez) May 18, 2026 FETTERMAN WILL LEAVE THE DEMOCRATITIC PARTY, & DEMOCRATS WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE HIM GONE FETTERMAN DOESN'T REPRESENTS HIS DEMOCRATIC PA CONSTIUENTSFETTERMAN IS WEAK & A TRAITORFETTERMAN SHOULD RESIGN IMMEDIATELYFETTERMAN IS ISRAEL FIRST – NOT AMERICA@SenFettermanPA pic.twitter.com/BiedF5SRRE — CoyleDoyle8 (@coyledoyle8) May 18, 2026 Can we trade him for Massie? — Dashing Downward (@DashingDownward) May 17, 2026 MSN provided this recap of Fetterman’s case for voting against his party: Fetterman said he trusts the Trump administration more than Iran, China, or Russia on nuclear threats. He cautioned Democrats against opposing initiatives solely because they come from Trump, calling it ‘TDS’. Fetterman emphasized that stopping Iran from building a nuclear bomb is a shared strategic goal. He described the financial cost of the military engagement as a necessary moral investment in global stability. Fetterman criticized other nations for showing concern over conflicts while failing to hold Iran accountable.
