Behold! The second season of the Marvel animated series X-Men ’97 is almost upon us, and we’ve got an on-point trailer to prove it.
In the trailer, we see Rogue mourning Gambit and the X-Men scattered across time to different moments in the Apocalypse’s reign over humanity. The music is portentous and speaks to the enormity of the danger for my X-Men as well as the importance of getting the team back together… to the ‘90s.
Here’s the official synopsis for the upcoming episodes:
Season two continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.
The series features the voices of Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast. We also see loads of other X-Men in this trailer, including but not limited to Jubilee, Nightcrawler, and the Generation X team.
In short, the season looks awesome. It comes from supervising producer Jake Castorena, with episodes written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo (who left the show in the middle of season two), Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. The episodic directors are Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley.
We’ll get to see it in full when the nine-episode second season of X-Men ’97 premieres on Disney+ on July 1, 2026. But in the meantime, check out the trailer below. [end-mark]
