Bass denied wrongdoing at the time and reportedly said her trips to Cuba were educational and “had nothing to do with terrorism.” Pratt’s post quickly spread across social media, especially in conservative circles where critics accused Bass and her allies of trying to reduce Pratt to a punchline while treating Bass’ own political history with far more caution. Pratt’s attacks on Bass have escalated since California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom endorsed her.
